My 1st Ebike :) - project photos

To everyone who is thinking in buying cyclone kit with BB mount, the 48T plate in combination with the 13T freewheel its the right size to use without the tensioner.
I use my converted BPM2 without tensioner, too ATM. But that is not final, i'm always afraid to loose my chain (this did already happen ;) ) when it's a bit worn. I'll install adjustable sheets, as soon as I got them in 1-2weeks. Something you might wanna think about as well.

Hello :)

There should be a gif picture to click on, but here is the HP.:

About the prices that is really nice, but could you perhaps share some links to buy some of it? PM or here ?

How are your evaluation of the durability of your kit in rainy weathers, and in generel wet conditions?

This is a awsome site :)

Motor kit:
http://www.eclipsebikes.com/chainwheel-bottom-bracket-1680-watt-ebike-p-1073.html

Mine is 48T with 2 plates only and heavy duty freewheel

I have also a heavy duty 13T motor freewheel (soon will be available at eclipsebikes):
http://www.cyclone-e-bikes.com/order-parts.htm

And maybe for your bike you should consider a stronger ISIS BB like this ones (soon will be available at eclipsebikes):

For batteries, chargers, cables and plugs you can look onto this side:

See you soon :)

Thank you very much.. I appreciate it, very much!

I dont know much about electricity, but what controller and batteries should I go for?

It doent need to be violently quick, if it goes 50 km/h its fine, just it will be albe to wheelie and a 30-40 km range..

Im also thinking of having the batteries in a bag..

Regards

For that range with light pedaling you will need at least 6 packs of these:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...Flightmax_5000mAh_6S1P_15C_EU_Warehouse_.html

This will give you 48v and 15000mAh with a reasonable weight of 4kg in the backpack

This charger will charge all your batteries in 60 minutes

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/..._Battery_Charger_Version_2_EU_warehouse_.html

Also add this adaptor to balance charge all the batteries in one go:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...rd_for_6_packs_2_6S_HXT4mm_EU_Warehouse_.html

You will need to plug your charger onto a power supply like a computer PSU

Thank you, for your time answering! This helped alot..

Do you have any Youtube videos of your bike in action?

Regards

Looking so much forward viewing your video.. :-D

My problem is the BB width.. My bike is 73 mm and the gng kit goes for 68mm :-( anything I can do about that?

73mm is the same as mine and it is compatible with cyclone kit. Don't know much about gng.

Next week I will have the camera to make the film :)

Just a quick video made with my friends cellphone:

Hi Cool video their

You can barely hear the noise of the gearbox is that because you use oil in the gearbox ?

What's all the fuss about the cyclone gearbox being noisy, in your case you can just hear it above the wind noise ?

Yes your kit is not as quiet as a bafang mid drive, but if the noise of the gearbox is only slightly above the road tyre and wind noise then you won't even notice the difference in noise. But in the Bafang mid drive you will definitely notice the loss of efficiency , your cyclone motor with strait cut planetary gears is a lot more efficient then dual stage helical drive of the bafang bs02. Its no use sacrificing efficiency and having perfectly silent drive when the road and wind noise will be more or you can't notice the difference in real rideing. Good choice.

What top speed can you do with and without peddling ? Bafang can only do ~45 kmh.

Hello Gab

The bike can top speed at 55-60 Km/h without pedaling. The fastest I went was about 70Km/h in a downhill.
Since day one I run my gears with gearbox oil, never heard the sound with the original grease so I really can't compare with the original sound.

I like the sound of the bike because it's not extreme and is useful so I can chose the right timing to change gears.
I understand why some people prefer less noisy alternatives because it's more stealthier and less profile.
Sometimes when I pass close to pedestrians they notice the noise from the motor and realise there is something different about my bike.

The bike weights only 17Kg and that's without the batteries in the backpack (+/-3kg)

Here are more recent photos of the bike:

Ohh yeah thats a good point ! if its too quiet like the bafang mid drive how do you know when to change gear ? their is no tacho like on a car so if their is no noise how would u know?

As for pedestrians yeah that also a good point that they can tell their is something different, as otherwise they would step out right in front of you and hit them ! On a low powered ebike that is slow it doesnt realy matter, but if you have a high power ebike that like the 750w bafang is going very fast and silent, next to pedestrians it could be very dangerous as they would step out in front of you, so some noise is a good thing as you say.

Also if you want it be even quieter next to pedestrians just select the hardest gear and then only use partial throttle and it will be very quiet in this mode and still fast speed. Partial throttle to keep amps low. The more gear rpm the higher the noise.
