Basic, Brutal, Brushed. I am curious if there is such a thing anymore? I don't mean an AGNI or something that costly either. I mean a real budget solution, but still capable of proper power levels and efficiency. Also, the simplest controller with high current capability that would match this. Opinions? No softwares needed, no safety technology, no anti-wheelie stuff either. What do you guys recommend?

Power level?
There are a ton of small brushed motors out there...the controllers are uber cheap. The performance isnt terible if you expectations arent too high.

The efficancys arent compaiable to brushless in the smaller size.

There's plenty brushed motors in the electrathon sizes for $500 new ( show up often on ebay for cheap)
Gotta shop around.

I'm sorry, I was thinking more along the line of something capable of 5kW at least. This is for small ATV, Motorcycle use. I guess I'm hunting small forklift parts at the moment.

How about 10kw? They have a whole kit for it that would run you $915.

Aren't forklifts considerably more powerful?

This is just the step one project. Eventually we'll be all brushless or AC and 300v power...but for now a compact simple and cost effective power train solution. I'll invest in the A123 Prismatic cells to familiarize myself with the capabilities and shortcomings but 1st step is a Curtis controller and a brushed motor...small and simple. Then will come the baller big boy stuff (40kW brushless etc).

HAHA... ok...nevermind guys. I was just thinking that some super budget builds with an awesome battery pack would be kind of cool.
