So finished my assembly of that and back on the road. For those interested in the Aosom kit:arkmundi said:... accomplishing the less than $1000 eBike:
Total cost: $1011.35
- $0.00 by using my Gary Fisher Gitchee MTB
- $239.95 for an Aosom Rear Wheel 48V 1000W Electric Battery Powered Bicycle Motor Conversion Kit, 26" on Amazon ... shipping was free
- $771.40 for another 16 A123 AMP20 cells from OSNPower - see here
This experience can be easily replicated....
- its a 48V direct drive, and is solidly built
- the rim & spoke set are also strongly made - looks like 12 gauge steel for the spokes, rim is very solid
- the kit was complete and it all worked
- though I was at first sceptical about the 26 amp controller and smallish phase wires, on first test, the motor is fast, exceeding speeds I had with the MAC 48V motor - will have to wait & see how it holds up
