So finished my assembly of that and back on the road. For those interested in the Aosom kit:
  • its a 48V direct drive, and is solidly built
  • the rim & spoke set are also strongly made - looks like 12 gauge steel for the spokes, rim is very solid
  • the kit was complete and it all worked
  • though I was at first sceptical about the 26 amp controller and smallish phase wires, on first test, the motor is fast, exceeding speeds I had with the MAC 48V motor - will have to wait & see how it holds up
