Having used both Daly BMS’s and a variety of JBD BMS’s, it’s my experience that the balance cables on both brands are wired B- up to battery positive. There’s no skipping around as you climb battery voltage.
However, the JBD balancing whips and Daly whips are now the same. JBD whips often have extra spaces or the pin header is wider. This is especially true on BMSs over 48V, where they break the balance cabling out into two cable whips.
So if you’re hoping to be able to just unplug the balance cable from your Daly and plug it into a JBD, I think you’re out of luck. That’s likely the case in most BMS swaps— I’ve seen few that are just plug and play.
My 2 cents. Good luck with your build!
