I searched this forum for some input on BMSs. I got spooked by the EVTV incident. I have a heavy scooter, the controller is a Kelly KLS7250D, the battery is a 20S made of Nissan Leaf modules, the motor is a 5kw hub. So I searched what is available now for BMSs and found something that seems to be of good quality. A major plus for me living in Canada is this product is made in Canada. Any feedback appreciated or suggestions on something better.

Thanks
Ray

Yeah, from what I saw on earlier episodes, it was just a matter of time. He does not really understand what he is doing. Like charging an overdischarged pack of that scale... And then he's teaching others.

You could use EMUS BMS. Not the cheapest solution, but quite rigid and offers good features.

Thanks for the link. I wish their site would have an option to get all the details in English. I would also like something distributed on this side of the pond. But I'll send them an email to see what their system is capable of and if it suits my needs.

Be aware that the EMUS bms is distributed type setup rather than centralized, so you will also need cell monitor boards. The JTT is centralized, so you would only need to run wires to each cell.

Check out this site that summarizes different bms options: http://liionbms.com/php/bms_options.php#Elecyr

Another bms you could look at is an Orion bms, which is a product of the US. I've used them before, both their lite and regular versions, and I think they are pretty powerful, but that also means that you can have too many parameters to set. www.orionbms.com

Does anyone know of cell balance boards that will fit well with the nissan leaf cells?
