Wye Delta combination

Hi all,
Have been searching for answers on this one and I'm sure they are here somewhere!
Anyway years ago at work we had this old 3 phase air hammer that had wye (or star as we call it down here) delta start up.

My question being is it a done thing to have an e bike motor wired to do both? That is once full speed is reached in wye, as your moving, switch it over to delta for a higher speed?
Excuse me if this is a much resolved concept just had to ask.

Right on and thanks Thud for the links. So theoretically it would be possible to say wye/delta switch and 7 turn astro motor on 44v to behave like a 4 turn at high rpm? Worth it? Or just run the 97kv 7 turn at 80+ volts.
I'm still uber new to all this and have some more finding out to do. Sometimes easier to ask
