Strong thunderstorm over the house gave us a good soaking.

No rain yet, but is partly cloudy now, some of them a bit on the darker side. Main stuff is passing at least a hundred miles south of us, in chunks and bits, though there's still a large enough area well to the east that might get here by sunset-ish. Whether that will get us any rain...probably not.

Yesterday it all passed at least a hundred miles north of us, and even then didn't rain where it did pass.

Supposedly it's 20% chance of rain tonight, but I doubt we'll see any in my area. Just doesnt' feel like rain (my joints usually tell me). Plus it's still over 110F out there (was 115F high, earlier this afternoon), and not dropping very quickly.

EDIT: The backyard security camera, when looking northeast, can see rain under some of the darkest clouds farthest to the east, maybe out in Scottsdale or far far east Phoenix.

Weather radar shows some rain out there.

It's at least 20-30% chance every night (and some days) for the next week, according to NWS. Most likely at least one of them we really will get *some* rain, even if it's just sprinkles.

Hoping for some real drenching rain, though maybe not as much as they're getting in Japan, or the Midwest. :/

Clouds threatening all day as air quality deteriorates because of the smoke from the wildfires. Observed some verga on the way to work over the Santa Rosa Mountains between Mt. Palomar and Mt. San Jacinto. :|

No rain yesterday despite the 50%+ chance.

Two storms today, one quiet and early this morning gave us about 1/4" in my area; little lake in the streets, puddles in the yard for just a bit., but none over at a friend's a few miles away. The second ended just about an hour ago, was still sprinkling on my way home from work, and dumped close to an inch in my area, all the way from work to home, but only a bit more than half an inch down around my friend's place.

Yards/trees got a partial soaking, not real deep but at least it's something.

Left lakes in the streets for me to ride thru on the way home, one of which soaked the underside pretty well, and got thru my minimal waterresistanting on the controller wiring on the unused CA connector of the Grinfineon powering the rightside wheel; this caused intermittent partial-throttle from there all the way home, on that side, so I had to keep using the ebrake (which triggers both sides) in pulses now and then to reduce speed sometimes.

50%+ chance for more tonight.

Wind ripped thru pretty good, tore up a bunch of trees along major streets, some roofs, etc., but just blew a few things (plastic chairs) around the yard here. Trees I have and those in the neighborhood seem to have done a decent job of being a windbreak, with no "canyon" (wide open street) to funnel it along.

Other than that, just very light sprinkles on and off all day long.

Humid enough to fill half a cat-litter bucket from the window A/C unit in my bedroom, in a few hours while sleeping.

Evidence of a few large drops overnight on the dirty cars in the driveway.
Mt. San Jacinto peak is being obscured by a developing thunderstorm which should spill over onto the Valle Vista area this afternoon.
Flash flood warning for the area near Mt. San Gorgonio and into the high desert already getting 1-2 inches or more, so I’m hoping for something by the time I get home.

With the really heavy rain we got, the Safeway store near us is gone--roof collapsed (dunno if it was the rain or the lightning strikes) and it burned out pretty completely, while I was at work the last couple hours tonight. Column of smoke could be seen across the whole valley, according to some people.

Between the thousand-plus people that came to watch it happen, and the cars they left parked wherever (roads/etc), and the gawkers in other cars slwoing or stopping, and the traffic slowdowns cuased by that, and then the slowdowns on other streets connected to them, and various other traffic problems form the rian and the winds and such, it was a little tough to get home; took me a little bit longer than usual.

Is still raining out there. We've got another half inch or so today at my place, a bit heavier at my workplace area, but only about half that down at my friend's house a few miles south/east of me.

Chance of rain Thursday afternoon is at a wonky 14%, was 30% today and we got skunked again.

The news reported they think the weight of the rain water caused the roof of the Safeway to collapse, which broke the gas main and electrical feed and sparked the huge fire. Pretty unusual for rain to start a fire.

I can see it apparently rained here last night but not enough to measure. We have a 20% chance of thunderstorms.

Disgustingly hot and humid.

Wednesday
A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 94. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Wednesday Night
A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

A look at the radar of a disturbance which went over before dawn, but without the sun to cause more lifting we didn't get anything. Maybe later today? :(

Still around 95°f outside. Also hearing a little thunder rumbling from up on the mountain.

Looks liek we're past the rains, and within the next few days will be back to the 110-115F+ temperatures...but with high humidity so ti feels a lot higher than that. :/

Was nice while it lasted.

Everything passed over and we got skunked.
