    PAS programming help for BSSHD

I don't understand the way the power curve is set up on the BBSHD PAS control - doesn't seem to make sense. It appears to source roughly the same current regardless of pedaling cadence. this resulted in a minimum power level of about 5/8HP in PAS1, which resulted in a minimum cruising speed of...

Airbus subsidiary APWorks 3D Prints ebike

    They call it a motorcycle in the story, but it's not - its a mid-drive e-bike (sans pedals)...and it's really cool :) https://www.lightmetalage.com/news/industry-news/applications-design/airbus-light-rider-first-3d-printed-motorcycle-aluminum/

    Am I wasting my money?

The drive motor controller is current limited, so you'll potentially get an 8% increase in torque/power due to the extra voltage, assuming that the NCRB cells hold up as well as the 29e cells. Personally, I wouldn't bother - I don't think you'll get enough of an appreciable increase to justify...

    Bafang BBSHD, 1000W, 68mm-120mm BB

Your thinking is backwards. The 73mm kit is perfectly centered in the frame only on a 68mm bottom bracket (oddly enough) when the drive side is snug against the bottom bracket. Measure your crank arm to rear stay spacing on both sides and you'll see. With the spacer under the drive side, your...

Hoverboard batteries are lithium and cheap. Mmmmm

Um, its the cheap knock-off batteries that are bursting into flames. I wouldn't stick a bike-pack made out of them between my legs.

    Ideas for power tether (backpack)

That's the way I'm leaning. I have the 12ga LV outdoor lighting wire because I used it as speaker wire when I put in my home theater. Its just about the best high performance low-inductance speaker wire you can buy, but costs about 1/50th of purpose labeled speaker wire.

    Ideas for power tether (backpack)

After being wholly unsuccessful in coming up with a battery mounting plan for my bike, I've decided to go with a backpack mount and power tether. I imagine its a good solution for off-road anyway. I'm wondering what those that use backpack batteries use to transmit power to the controller...

Bikes that are Compatible with a BBSHD

I believe that there is a 68mm-specific kit, at least Bafang advertises separate kits on their site. If so, it would have lower mounting bosses on the motor housing, with the entire rest of the assembly identical to the 73mm kit. I suspect that the US sources simply bought all 73mm kits...

Bikes that are Compatible with a BBSHD

The whole point of ordering the spacers was to be able to mount the drive unit, not to center the cranks. You CANNOT mount a BBSHD "68-73mm" drive unit onto a 68mm bottom bracket without aftermarket spacers. Spacing completely under the mounting plate centers the cranks, as the 73mm kit is...

Bikes that are Compatible with a BBSHD

The mounting plate is knurled to dig in to the side of the bottom bracket, so its not a smooth surface with installed as designed. The spacers defeat that feature.

Bikes that are Compatible with a BBSHD

Actually, you're just a hack that would build something dangerous and prone to failure. BBS01s and BBS02s DO work on 68s, BBSHDs do not, so you're arguing in a vacuum. No, you can't just have a 5mm misalignment on the motor mounting plate. No, you can't just bend the 'tabs'. You're being...

Bikes that are Compatible with a BBSHD

The answer is no. The BBSHD requires aftermarket BB shims to be installed onto a 68mm BB, and there is no 68mm kit available, at least not in the US. The other option is to cut down the motor plate mounting area on the motor, but that seems sketchy to me. The required 5mm shim wants to be...

Bikes that are Compatible with a BBSHD

    Could - I thought of that. I still like the drill-n-pin idea - it's really easy and a slam-dunk.

Bikes that are Compatible with a BBSHD

    It would, but wouldn't be easy - downtube is a tear-drop cross-section.
