Found a dirt bike frame in the trash. She polished up nicely!

Sweet, cool score! Way to bring an old bike back from the dead. :bigthumb:

DC to DC Solid State Relay (SSR)

Not much at all. This bike is basically gonna be a streetfighter with very minimal electrical. Headlight, taillight, signals, and maybe a horn. All LED should put me around 100W max for everything. Also, FYI, Heltec sells a BMS that's basically exactly what has been proposed...

DC to DC Solid State Relay (SSR)

Thanks for the link, I see what's up now. I had a feeling it was something to that effect, this confirms it. I will be using a 12 VDC converter for the accessories on my project so I'll probably go with a 12 VDC contactor, but I see your point with going to pack voltage. I may still...

DC to DC Solid State Relay (SSR)

Hello. Not trying to sound pushy here but did you ever whip up a simple drawing of this wiring? This solution sounds perfect for my high-amp pack I'm putting together for my EV Motorcycle. I'm using 5 Headway 38120's in parallel (28 in series) for an easy 600A instantaneous discharge. Thanks.

Good answer, thank you for your time. :thumb:

    High current BMS suggestions

I got the size 6 because it came with the motor. Motenergy sold them to me together for $900 back in 2018. It was oversized, but also a steal so I took it. I'm guessing 50A because that's what the cruise amperage is around. Heavy gassing is up by 600A, but that's only about 1% of the time...

    High current BMS suggestions

Hello I'm currently building a 28s5P pack for my ME1507 and Sevcon Gen4 Size6 controller for the EV motorcycle I'm building. I've got the batteries on the way (Headway 38120 LiFePo4 cells) and thanks to their phenomenal discharge capacity, I'm fully expecting to be maxing out the amperage of...

how to program a sevcon gen4

Cool, thanks for the tip. I was speculating that might be the case, I just didn't know what it was technically called. Same with gas engines (light throttle in neutral revs higher than under load). I swapped the encoder leads and the motor didn't spin at all so I know everything's wired...

how to program a sevcon gen4

Back in 2018 I bought an ME1507 and Sevcon Gen4 Size 6 directly from Motenergy, and had Frodus program the Sevcon and supply his wiring harness for it. Then life got in the way... FFWD to yesterday, I finally got around to bench testing the rig using two of my Ego lawnmower batteries in series...

Quick BMS question for DIY battery pack

Thank you, but I'm not enough of an EE geek to understand fully what you're saying. I lost the EE desire after Circuits 1 and stayed ME Maybe I should have said, where can I a PCB based battery maintainer for 24 cells? Or 8x3 cells? Or 6x4, etc...

Quick BMS question for DIY battery pack

Why do some of the cheap PCB versions of BMS's say they have a charge/discharge amperage rating, and the Orion or Dilithium Designs say nothing about charge/discharge amperage? Also, if you look at the Tesla BMS that comes built into each pack there is no large cable running through it, just...

First test of my remotored Zero XU

Oh, wow, thanks for clearing that up for me. How ever would my life go on without your passive-aggressive style of answering questions...

First test of my remotored Zero XU

Maybe I missed it but how many volts were you at to get 60 mph? Also, what's the status of them little packs? I'm guessing they're 18650 cells.

    Bernel's new electric motorcycle build

I'm going to be watching this closely as I just purchased the same exact motor and controller for my build. I'm retrofitting them into a 2011 Zero XU.

    New Motor

That's the ME1507, and technically Motenergy designed it and made the first few for Zero, then Zero cut them out and had them manufactured elsewhere. Zero doesn't make motors, they build motorcycles. Yes, I know this is an old post.
