    Will this work?

Interesting…. If the resistance of the two are that close I would have thought that the brass would weld more like the nickel….

    Will this work?

I am building a 15s3p LifePO4 26650 pack. I wanted to use something better than nickel strip. The brass shim stock I have is “yellow brass”, I think. Likely not the best conductor but way better than nickel strip. The shim stock is .010” (.254mm) so it should be good. The trouble is that I...

kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

I feel like a total noob….. I just got my power supply and hooked up my KWeld. I am using an HP power supply power, KSupply and Kcap. I have no switch on the power supply, so I just pull the plug on it. The component are all hardwired (bolted terminals). How do I turn this thing off? I...

kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

I'm staving off buyer remorse.... Back me up here. I just put an order for a Kweld, KCap, Ksupply and a HSTNS-PR01 - HP 850 to 1000 -Watt supply. Its a BIG chunk of change for a guy who has NEVER spot welded a battery..... "Buy once cry once" right? In the past I have spent far too much time...

kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

Any more information on using the Ksupply as a bench top power supply? The manual I found online has a section for details on this but it is left blank. I would like to hook up a couple pots and an lcd screen would be great. Some sort of indicator to show if it is in CC or CV mode....

Using 3 LiGo batteries to charge a computer.

My mind is blown...... Never would have thought that plugging dc into a ac to dc converter would work. Could I plug a 58vlt dc battery into a laptop charger and have it work??

Using 3 LiGo batteries to charge a computer.

I may be missing something here..... You are powering a laptop charger with a Li-ion pack correct? With no inverter in the circuit? There is a Massive difference between AC and DC current..... particularly with safety. 100volts DC from three sizeable packs can do some serious damage. I...

    Amp hour question.....

Thanks for the responses The converter should be here on Monday, maybe sooner. The dc “power supply” from the CPAP manufacturer will be here on Thursday next, giving me a week before departure to give it a run. I think it’s pretty cool to be able to use a big ebike battery for many things...

    Amp hour question.....

I have found a dc to dc converter to step down the 58vlts from my ebike li-ion pack to 12vlts. If the pack is rated at 12ah (at 58vlts) when stepped down to 12vlts it should be 58ah, correct? I figure what actually is useful is Watt hours, this pack would be rated at 696 watt hours, when...

    XT90 connectors stuck

There are a ton of cheap counterfeit xt connectors, look for Turnigy (from Hobby King) or Aomy connectors. I think that the real ones are great, cheap ones melt easily and get stuck. VERY important to do only one wire at a time. If you can, hack away at the plastic and get to the solder. If...

    High Voltage on DC motors

So it isn’t simple as voltage decreases heat..... I am working towards a 60vlt setup on a BBSHD. Anyone have one that they have installed a temperature probe? A few test runs to gather data would be interesting.

    High Voltage on DC motors

I have a “working understanding” of ohms law..... But don’t have a good grasp on this: If I “lug” a motor, ie leaving my ebike in a high gear and heading up a hill, is it more likely to burn up with a higher voltage. My thoughts are that low voltage would cause higher amps, amps means...

    14S battery @57.4 V or 15S @ 60V ?

I am building my own packs and I have settled on making them 3s and tieing them together in 12s or 15s. The reason for this is to have 3s packs that are close to 12volt nominal, which is useful for a lot of things. I have an RC charger that can balance charge 4 packs at the same time, up to 6s...

    gas price thread

I’m in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, our prices are $1.58 per Lt. On the mainland in Vancouver prices set a North American record yesterday, $1.68 per lt Which works out to....... $6.35 per gal!!!!!! Convert that from $Cdn to $Usd and it is just under $5 usd per gal.... Lots of folks are...
