Perhaps a gusset could be added next time to strengthen the join. I see you used a old bed frame, this steel probably isn't the best to use either, next time perhaps a thicker walled tubing with gussets to make for stronger join. Hope you heal up good as new in quick time too

    Deal on a gearbox.

I had one of these hubs on a old dragster bike when i was a kid, it is hard pedaling in second gear that i remember first is super super easy. I dont think alone this would be good choice for the ebike as you cant change gear it is full automatic with motor it would be in second all the time

I spoke with my good friend last evening and talked with him about e-bicycle and the rc motors. The gear reduction was mentioned i bought up angle grinder as a means to obtain this, he is an electrician and did some years in a large workshop repairing/maintaining tools/equipment and the like. He...

    Building a custom e-bike frame

+1 Unfortunately people seem far too quick to critique others efforts rather than congratulate on what they have achieved. GrandmasterE if you think you can do better lets see it. :-) This is fantastic e-bike Hal congratualtions on getting the bike up and running in short time. I definately...

KillaBICYCLE Electric Bike Drag Racing 3 may 2009

Single speed yes but still geared which would allow for different ratio too be fitted so they don't max out top speed half way down the strip which is what i believe will happen to DoctorBass. You want to be pulling hard the entire length of the strip not just half of it. It will still be fun to...

KillaBICYCLE Electric Bike Drag Racing 3 may 2009

Im not sure how or why the hub motor will have better acceleration after 60 foot. RC motor setup with gears simple upchange and they go even quicker with the hub your using this is only one speed isn't it your not using the hub with 2 speed? I'm still new to all this but not to drag racing, have...

KillaBICYCLE Electric Bike Drag Racing 3 may 2009

With the recent use of these rc motors on electric bicycles and the impressive performance they offer i am curious why you are using a hub motor? I am beginner i dont yet have an electric bicycle (have a mountain bike to convert though if that counts haha) Looking at this PK Ripper bicycle...

Twin motored PK Ripper--A little over the top!

I wonder if we could get liveforphysics on a plane or Matt on plane with their rides for a head to head show down! I think Matt would have line honours in accelration on the fence to to which would have top end which is not really most impressive to myself accelration is the fun i think. I...

Twin motored PK Ripper--A little over the top!

I guess Yamaha disagree they produced a two wheel drive road and trail bike in 2003 KTM also have a two wheel drive in development I think it would be ridiculous to do two wheel BMX setup no ponit, a mountain bike used almost exclusively off road climbing would be advantageous in my own...

Twin motored PK Ripper--A little over the top!

Maybe just for special drag run you could mount one of those bicycle racks to the front (the ones usually mounted on the back of bikes) then pile on some weight to keep the front wheel down allowing more power to be fed in? This is done on some drag cars to gain traction in particular on pick...

    Y-pedal's two stage RC drive..........

Looks like a BMX bike to me, thats also a 20 in rim on the back isn't? Latest drive and motor combination i think deserves a nice full suspension bike, this is my opinion of it.
  23. Lucky_Hoodlum

    Y-pedal's two stage RC drive..........

I think you would be using at least 24in tire diameter also? Maybe try doing 30mph on 20in wheel size and see how bad it is when you hit bumps, smaller wheel size wont handle the bumps anywhere near as smoothly, hit a bump fast enough say bye bye to your rim. I can't understand why anyone would...

Twin motored PK Ripper--A little over the top!

Be interesting yes, i think a decent pitbike would spank the BMX though, it would handle alot better i think than a zero suspension BMX bike, I have ridden a few myself they are alot of fun. Also they have 125cc petrol motors ;-) Recumpence bike would have power to weight advantage yes but i...
