    Retard here. Wiring Ping Battery.

bikes going great. Went on a 10+ mile ride w/full throttle w/o pedaling, except to accelerate. Didn't notice any drop in performance. Too bad I wasn't riding it earlier though. Got a damn ticket from the po po today for not stopping at a stop sign long enough. I guess I kind of rolled through...

    Retard here. Wiring Ping Battery.

It's ALIVE! The andersons came in the mail today. Couldn't have been simpler to connect. Just got back from my first ride. I rode to school and back basically with no pedaling and full throttle seemed to make it just fine, that was 7 miles. Sure is a lot of fun, however the immense wind in my...

    Retard here. Wiring Ping Battery.

thnx for the help. I ended up ordering the 30 amp anderson powerpoles. I see you have ping batteries yourself dogman, so i guess you'd have a pretty good idea. Then I got the crimping tool with it. I think I'll just wait for them to arrive. I've waited this long, what's a little big longer.

    Retard here. Wiring Ping Battery.

guess i'll order the 45 amp ones w/the crimp tomorrow. Hopefully this works. First decided on all of this equipment back in October and just got it now, so I'm a little eager to get this thing goin.

so do these things spark a lot when you hook them up? Mine doesn't have an on/off switch.

    Retard here. Wiring Ping Battery.

stiffi, I think i'm going to go with your idea. Researched down that path and it seems pretty simple after watching a youtube video on it. Now i just gotta find out what gauge of wire that is coming from the battery...

    Retard here. Wiring Ping Battery.

Here are the two ends in which I need to merge. The one is just the stripped wire and then the other one... http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/8404/img0844f.jpg and the other end of that one is the anderson connectors that can connect to the controller.

    Retard here. Wiring Ping Battery.

imageshack has been a trusty host for many years, so there shouldn't be any exe's running from it. None the less i took it off. I don't have anything on this installation to resize the picture atm, that's why i didn't upload it to attachments, too big. I guess then the only problem i have is...

    Retard here. Wiring Ping Battery.

So I finally got all of my stuff for my first ebike build. I ordered the kit from e-bikekit.com and a 48v 10ah battery from Li Ping. Basically having never done this I just want to be absolutely sure I'm doing everything right because I don't want to turn a $418 battery into garbage. Sorry if...

What components exactly determine the speed?

Just forget I ever asked, lol, nah I'm jk. Thanks for the help. At least my confusion was understandable, a lot of variables involved it seems.

What components exactly determine the speed?

So, I've kind of got an idea of this, but I'm tired of being confused about it. What components determine how fast said ebike will go? What I've picked up thus far it seems is that generally, higher voltage batteries provide more speed and amp hours determine distance. The thing is, I have seen...

I give up. What are the laws on E-bikes in California?

I always thought 20mph was kind of silly. I mean I can ride my road bike constant at 26-27 miles for quite some time. The fastest I've gotten under my own power on flat ground/no wind was 30.6mph. I think the speed limit is just there to have some type of order. Really what it is saying is...

    First ebike, Questions? Cyclone?

Wait a minute! Have I been high in my last few posts? I guess I could order the kit without the battery and get the 48V 10AH battery from pingbattery.com and it would still be cheaper than just buying the entire kit with the battery....Why did I not look at the prices of pingbattery before...

    First ebike, Questions? Cyclone?

Thnx for the explanation of the batteries. Here's the thing, if I was going to stick with the 36V battery, I'd go with the LiFePo4 without a doubt. I'm just not sure If i'm going to stick with the 36V for more than a few months. Just enough time to make some extra money and invest in a 48V...

    First ebike, Questions? Cyclone?

Why would SLA batteries be a disappointment? Question on the topic of front wheel hub motors. Basically, if magnets stick to my front fork (and it is just a regular fork, no suspension fork) then it is doable with a front wheel hub motor? I thought I read that somewhere, is that a good test to...

    First ebike, Questions? Cyclone?

haha, okay I'll try to spread that mean reputation :P Looking at the order page/options for the e-bikekit site it lists freewheel. I have an idea of what them are. If i'm not mistaken it allows you to pedal w/o having to turn the motor, is that right? And if no freewheel was installed would the...

    First ebike, Questions? Cyclone?

9 Continents motor? Where do you get them? Or is that what kind the ampedbikes and them sell? Just thought I'd say this. Thanks for all the help everyone. This has to be one of the more friendly and helpful forums that I have visited in quite some time. Most of the time people get mad or...

    First ebike, Questions? Cyclone?

For arguments sake, let's say I went with a kit from hightekbikes or ampedbikes. They both come with 36V batteries to power the motor. Would it increase speed and if so drastically by adding a, let's say, 48V battery? Would that screw anything up by using higher voltages of batteries to power...

    First ebike, Questions? Cyclone?

Thanks for all the replies. Gotta leave in a moment, but I'll try to answer some of the questions. As far as the security things I go to a small private college that has security guards that I know that I'm sure would keep an eye on it. Whats your range? how far do you need to go? 3.5 miles to...

    First ebike, Questions? Cyclone?

Hey, so I am new to the whole ebike scene. Recently, I bought a bike for commuting. I ride a few miles to school somtimes, but the thing is when I get there I am sweaty and gross and I don't feel like doing class, so I end up driving anyway. I thought about actually getting a scooter, but it is...
