    Not feasible. The ratchet mechanism can only turn the drum one gear at a time so you'd still have to click it multiple times even to skip a gear. I guess you could make a custom shift drum. Not worth it though as the extra ratios are nice to have so it would not make sense to remove them.

    I think they try to reduce the cost across the board to help justify the cost of the batteries. I don't think all electric motorcycles need transmissions but I do think that any electric dual sport would greatly benefit from having atleast high and low range.

    I like that thought as well. The issue is see with it is that you will have to keep two chains tensioned properly.

    You dont want the tension side of the chain under the knuckle. The motor will try to pull the suspension up under load. Everytime you hit a large bump the suspension travel will shock back torque through the chain into the motor.

    why not ditch the rear hydraulic brake and run the chain on the inside? does your controller have regen? NVM just realized that is impossible. Looking great tho good luck getting it finished up! How much controller and what batts!?

    Excellent! I will investigate the shock oil thanks! I am expecting a loss in efficiency. I am combating it in two ways. The motor is going to be a 9 turn to reduce it's speed w bit. Secondly I intend on strapping on a bunch more lipo :-D

    I have had one motor failure in 1000 miles. I had almost 2kW/hr lipo aboard and I did about 50mph to max of 58mph for about 4 miles without dropping below 40mph ever. Toasted the motor.     I have received motors from sky hobby. The shaft is 12mm like normal. The rep said they could easily supply 5000 units a month. I suspect the reason HK dropped the is to sell the higher end scorpion motors.

    IDGAF what the price is at this point. Sky Hobby is reliable and always in stock. I have also received motors from HK and Leader Hobby. So far my best experience has been with Sky Hobby and will be where I order from next. I only buy these for cores to rewind.

    $150 was with EMS shipping. They are just a distributor. you can actually get an 80-100 from them from 2 different manufactures, Aeolian and ATN. They did not have any black Aeolians in stock so I went with the standard orange ATN/EMP/Turnigy.

    They are NOT discontinued. You can get them at Sky Hobby in up to 5000 units a month. There is no minimum quantity I just received one 80-100 for $150 shipped to the US. I used my paypal it was quick and easy and I got my motor in 4 days...
