All Your Agni Are Belong To Me

Is that mold on your wall behind the rack or the result of horrific chemical experiments with batteries.... And : If from experiments : What exactly caused them If mold : Do you happen to live in Louisiana or so Just curious :)

Resistance and Inductance of Motors and Controller Parts.

Fantastic measuring device. Lfp I hope you will keep showing more examples of whatever that can be measured with this thing ! because it is really interesting. Do you think it can show differences in induction in layered board / layered busbar design compared to non-layered or doesn't it work...

    such a badass driver...

I'm actually doing/ help organise an auto-x/slalom myself this weekend. It's more fun oriented than competetive but we have an absolute great abanded ex-military terrain for our use and we can set up a reasonably fast course. The parking-lot slaloms are nice but waaaayy to slow/small for my...

Why, wHY, WHY must a saddle be so hard and narrow!?!

Ahum...cough....I imagine the above horse-shoe saddle is for the male bike pedaling species ? (why on earth did I already have a hunch it would eventually come to this after the first topic post  ) Looks like an absolute must have for Scottish Kilt wearing cyclists ! You can just let it...

    Re-wind of a turnigy 80/100 (Now-tutorial w/Video)

It is always really difficult to believe at first sight that there is more copper in your rewind in comparison to the original, the eyes see much more "volume" of copper with the thinner strands !! Still amazing how insulation and diameter of wire make up a total amount of volume of copper :) A...

    100v+ Battery Build.

It gets even better   just read what Mighty Volt wrote 2 posts above ..... epic , EPIC !!!! (poor Mighty Volt , sorry but this is such a fantastic FROCK UP , can't help myself...... )

    100v+ Battery Build.

Mighty volt , since this is for an e-bike and you don't get so much out of breath as would be with pedal power alone this is definately the thing you need if you are into smoking !! Just wire it up to a 12v source and you are good to go :D What can be better as smoking a cigar , a cig or even a...

Awesome new FET package :) :) :) Not a geek? you won't care

Sure , I think I understand the silicon/bond-wires limits , but in real life use wouldn't 2 x Irfp4368 be the same current-handling wise as 1 Ixys if they reach "working" temperature in practical use ? How would you program the max phase current-limit in a controller btw , because it can't be...

    12 kw rc motor

Still impressive to see such a small motor size-wise powering a complete car ! :) Couple of years ago I would have had difficulties with believing it is even possible. It's not easy to get a capable controller for testing , hope it will work out.

Awesome new FET package :) :) :) Not a geek? you won't care

The Ixys looks great hope this will work out. The isolated tab is already worth it ! It even looks very good for producing them factory-wise in many numbers , fantastic future product to be. My knowledge isn't that great concerning mosfets but I tried to compare the Ixys to TO-247 , it's about...

I am DETERMINED to build a bike that can do this!

No need to have something super light weight for fun , better build it strong to last and save your money for other fun stuff. Think Hub motors are out , and btw half the speed this guy is going is also fine.... Video is awesome , he's got skills ! One word of caution though : Please , PLEASE...

**Important** reality check on motor, voltage, current etc.

Yes without phase current control the controller should match the motor , the capacitors will let the mosfets dump any current the motor wants but you will not see that in the battery current shunt as this measures only average . How does this simple controller know what load it is attached to...

**Important** reality check on motor, voltage, current etc.

Isn't the whole phase current stuff not easy to see on a scope ? Use low resistance shunt or maybe even the phase wire itself and see what the current does with the different PWM rates... It may give an easy answer to all this discussion :)

**Important** reality check on motor, voltage, current etc.

It must be something like this in practice. I read into your first posts a bit of "conservation of energy" and the idea that if duty-cycle goes down then current must go up proportionally .But this implies a sort of steady state condition. Most of this stuff is still way over my head but I...

    14kw continuous 94% efficient motor.......

Haha , just something else : "very common 1/2 inch ID, 1.125 inch OD bearings" I am amazed it's still inch sizes and not metric ! , even though general manufacturers what I know have gone that way for quite some time even in the good old U as of A (slight pun intended from a european  )...

    At what speed..

After what Dogman said about the temperature and what is still comfortable in very hot weather with a visor : Is there a niche on the market that is not catered for ? A bicycle lycra-guy type helmet with the "open" beam like construction over the head , AND a visor at a distance because of...

    14kw continuous 94% efficient motor.......

    >Matt , newbie here  doesn't know half about what's going on here really and is constantly looking for info to learn... but I just looked at the design picture on page two of the big out-runner Colossus ( that is what Katou / you refer to ? ). That IS a big bearing........... And NO I...

When to go from PWM to Block coil commutation ?

    >Whatever thanks , there is a lot of information about driving brushless DC motors in general (also Hall's) but not that much info about the whole commutation process ( I mean : powering the coils that is) what I've found on the internet. But if someone can shed any light on what is happening...

    14kw continuous 94% efficient motor.......

    > katou : Holy moly , yes a 5 inch diameter outer size bearing would have problems making a lot of RPM but that's not needed for our applications though ? What did you mean with the 5 inch diameter application , did I miss something in this thread ? or did you mean in general ? >recumpence >...

    14kw continuous 94% efficient motor.......

    >Katou , I don't think bearing speed is the problem but much more that the right bearings are not chosen for the application ... I think a lot of bearing choice in high-power semi-RC motors (because that is what they look like , just a bit bigger than what the RC guys use) are simply chosen to...

    Hall sensor placement

    > Tiberius , thank you for such a clear , condensed and understandable explanation of Hall sensor placement. I wish you had written some application-notes by various big companies , they would be so much more easier to read .... As Einstein said , if you can't explain it to your grandmother...

    e-Buggy: Alternator Conversion

Oh well forum-bandwidth isn't costing me any money , I'll shove a big boot under it and kick it up yet again. Widodo is probably still waiting for the AGM to arrive .... zenon , salty9 , Harold in CR , krumpi , dajsinjo , magnusvr , bzhwindtalker : Any results , updates , wants or...

When to go from PWM to Block coil commutation ?

Okay sounds logical to me . LFP thanks for pointing out max allowed battery current completely forgot about that. Another question : How long does the commutation last from point A to B ? Because we have the varying duty cycle PWM at less than full throttle or a single full block-pulse at...

When to go from PWM to Block coil commutation ?

Olaf, for sure , I understand that eventually PWM will become a single blockpulse automaticly if the dead-time will become zero . Maybe it would have been better if I would have named the topic : "How does a controller for a brushless E-motor actually work ?" or something like that. And yes you...

    DIY motor. Out of wood???

Just by chance read about it on ES before lots of info : https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=14134 Plywood is fantastic stuff :D I think you can build anything you want with it !
