A new build, the same questions.

Yes, thanks, that part is already fixed - now just need to get a spare controller, as I don't trust this one to last much longer. Even though I did solder 5 different wires back.

A new build, the same questions.

Thank you very much for your replies and suggestions - I just finished my conversion, using yescomusa kit, cellman's battery and a vintage giant steel mountain bike (have never seen rims so true on a vintage bike!). I have to say, it is a lot of fun. As far as quality is concerned - yescomusa...

Do people even try reading or searching anymore?

I already spent more time reading the forum than I should have, and I really appreciate the advice given as well as numerous threads on this forum. Most of my questions were answered in those threads. However, when I made a decision to get all the components, I made a thread of my own. Could I...

    GCinDC's Giant DH Comp

Lol, fun to see you driving near my former workplace. Some crazy commuting skill! Hope to get it as well as soon as I build mine. Or get killed in the process! :)

    Pedal assist sensor or alternatives?

So, I got the 48/1000 yescomusa kit, a monster 20 ah battery (lol, at least I hope I have it and it can make it safely here from China), and a crappy full suspension frame to build it on (still looking for a better frame though), and trying to figure out which technology would be the best in...

    Cheaper batteries than ping?

    For the same specs, Cellman's quote was $1000 shipped. Sun-thing's - $550 shipped. Ping's $850 shipped.

What do you think of this?

BMS should prevent you from draining the battery, and the kit will come with a very primitive battery indicator. A meter allows you to learn more specifics and could be helpful if BMS fails.

    Cheaper batteries than ping?

BMS is a battery management system, a safety device to prevent batteries from being fully discharged or overcharged, and performs some other functions, to make sure they function properly. Who did you end up buying it from, and at what price? I saw somebody is advertising 6 kg 48v 20ah batteries...

    Cheaper batteries than ping?

If what other posters said is correct, I would say - If you can wait, buy sun-thing's batteries and insure them via squaretrade on ebay. This way, for $80 you can have 3 years worth of warranty on the product that will take a beating to arrive and could have problems. On the brighter note, I...

A new build, the same questions.

Thank you for such a great writeup, looks like you are in a similar situation to mine. I just got rid of the Schwinn Tailwind Electric (some store is clearing out the inventory here in the US), which was way underpowered for my needs (cannot even pedal above 15 mph!). So, back to the drawing...

A new build, the same questions.

Yeah, price, shipping time and no availability of certain products make it hard to go with cellman here in the USA. However, I am still confused about the best battery for yescomusa 48/1000 kit. Ping has it in 48v/10, 15, 20, 30 ah. Since I want it small and last only some 17 miles, would 10 AH...

A new build, the same questions.

Any suggestions? Is there any seller that sells it all - a good quality kit and a matching battery? Preferably, ships from the USA?

Sounds like a lot of fun. Will have to try this! Will get in touch with Agnius regarding this.

A new build, the same questions.

Thank you so much for your responses. Scratch the vintage, I guess, but it is a great bike, too bad the extra weight would make it awful to ride. I saw a couple of alloy KHSs around for cheap, but the frame size being only 13 inches, way too small. I think I need something around 18 or 20...

What a great website. After reading through all the posts, I am also trying to invent a perfect ebike. I have a 19 miles commute, roundtrip, with at least 1 mile going up the hill (not steep, but nasty enough to kill the pleasure of riding a bike), and around $1000 to spend on it. All commute is...
