Ryan HH's question and help thread

At low RPM you can easily draw twice that, + - depending on the winding.

    Wire bonding

Haven't been on here in a while and in the interim got into semiconductor fab which involves this cool tech called wire bonding! Usually the wires involved are very small but they can be bigger, big enough to carry current for high power ebikes. Wire bonding has been used in industry for...

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

When the magnets explode they totally came off in my case. Also if you get it hot enough to remove magnets they should be at least partially demagnetized. That could be a defect. The case was also extremely hot every time I blew magnets. You can't keep your hand there.

    What is this Boat?

OK, you have a 12v system with a DC motor (or maybe 24v, if the two groups of 2 series 6v batteries are combined in series). You can tell for sure that each pair of 2 batteries is combined in series for 12V. DC motors don't need fancy controllers and in fact you can just slam the power on / off...

What u think of this?! Tape connections. And potting

So the tabs are welded to the batteries, but attached with "conductive paste" and by tape compression between stages on the side of the pack where visible? Looks pretty stable, really. Zero used to use a compression fit for their battery conductors about 10 years ago. It can work if you do it...

That's pretty cool I would buy it for my collection at a price like that if I was local.

    The Elephant In The Room

Just to be clear, this is an actual person who had an (sort of) actual cannibal army: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Butt_Naked

    Liberian Warlord living in Canada

Yeah, I guess it could be taken that way if can't bother to use Google first but if you did you would find out that General Butt Naked was the name of an ACTUAL LIBERIAN GENERAL who actually led an army of (purported) cannibals. Seriously. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Butt_Naked

Forget ebikes. E-unicycles are where it's at!!!!

Oh ok so it can BARELY do 50 mph on a full battery, maybe, according to some people, and I don't see that as the advertised top speed. Meanwhile you post a pic doing a speed my stock monster can hit. What actually happened is you just got a wheel you THINK you can do 50 mph, but you didn't...

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

Think real hard about this because the cyclone 3000 in my opinion sucks more than twice as hard as the twice as expensive X1. The X1 not only is lighter and more powerful the build quality of the entire assembly is much higher. The stock controller is also better.

What were the circumstances that led to you always riding around with a bunch of beer?? I assume the beer joined the bike before it was thought to be used as coolant.

Hey guys...DID YOU KNOW THERE IS A BACDOOR APP FOR PC that works offline, doesn't need a login, and is much easier to use and more full featured than the stupid app which is basically for people without working brains (or working PCs). Do you want a copy of the PC app? Please inquire via PM...

Forget ebikes. E-unicycles are where it's at!!!!

You're so full of shit I doubt you have ANY eucs in your group that have EVER hit 50 mph except maybe downhill and it would be a complete stretch of the performance on full battery not effortless at all. Bicycles can fit in the same narrow spaces as a unicycle if the bars aren't too wide. And...

Liberian warlord living in Canada? At least it's not General Butt-Naked and his army of cannibals.

Forget ebikes. E-unicycles are where it's at!!!!

The CYC is one of the smallest weakest bike motors. Meanwhile any fast ebike can stop MUCH faster, accelerate faster, and corner...much faster and more quickly than a EUC. Suspension lets you take curbs and big bumps at speed. Stairs are something you can bomb up or down not take like a novelty...

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

ASI controller works great on some motors and the throttle can be set to have as little delay as you want. This motor it does not work great with for fast response. Go ahead and try a fast torque based throttle on ASI with the X1 lmao it will be so unreliable and shitty it's not even rideable...

    Setting up Asi Bac 8000

See if you can get the BAC2000 datasheet that was publicly up on grin's website for a while. It has a much better pinout with more info. The pinout for the 2k/4k/8k is all the same. I tried one of those foreign pinouts first and then when I compared to ASI's diagram it wasn't even the same. I...

Can I buy US made lithium batteries?

May I suggest that you separate your two goals: 1) buy the best batteries made in china 2) make dedicated efforts at charity or contributing to your community Reasoning: They don't really make lithium batteries in the US and you won't find anything production that's cutting edge and certainly...

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

No, the ASI X1 kits are all used either by kind, gentle, pedal spinning folks who don't mind the slow startup or by morons who don't use the power and don't ride hard, so don't miss the totally shitty throttle, but still think they use their "6kw" all the time.   Don't get...

    CYC X1 Gen 2 5000W

Yes that would have been a good idea but the main aggravation was thermal limits butting into my riding not having to buy new motors. Overtemp wouldn't have fixed the big issue. Anyway I added drip water cooling to the shell a couple rides ago and that has made an extreme difference in how much...

    CYC X1 Gen 2 5000W

I'm not sure what the actual purpose of the steel sleeve is because it certainly doesn't serve much purpose to retain the magnets even though CYC has marketed it that way. Take apart a motor and see for yourself. Apparently the real difference between gen1 and 2 was change of the adhesive or...

    43 mph unicycle...who's faster?

OK so what lightweight high power hub motor do you suggest someone use to make a ludicrously fast (80 mph+) unicycle? Seriously though, because I'm thinking about how to do this with readily available ebike components that don't cost a fortune. That basically leaves the usual suspects of heavy...

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

This motor is a lot of fun for wheelies. It will easily pop you up at low RPM, but doesn't make enough power to carry out power wheelies for more than a second. So you have to reach for unicycle mode right away with that front wheel really high to carry on a wheelie.

    CYC X1 Gen 2 5000W

The CYC will be better than bafang and bosch for sure. It is a good mid drive. I just don't like the misleading advertising on power levels. Yeah, I want a drive that can take more power. But the LR looks crappier than the CYC even if it makes more power. I like the size, weight, and level of...
