    Bafang 750W BBS02 w/ Nuvinci N360 & Gates Belt for Commuter?

Finally got everything put together and have been commuting daily for a couple of months now. When I ordered the N360 I had the wheel built so it should have been a simple install. Well, the hub was bad (wouldn't cycle through the total gear range - only 50%). Took the better part of two months...

    Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

My BWR S1000RR track bike would routinely do this when in slick mode (picture is not me but the exact same bike and color): System uses a 3 axis gyro with sensors on both wheels to measure tire rotation speeds. Not all that difficult if one understands the math behind it.

Thanks for pointing this out.... I updated my prior post to reflect the 4.2V. Here is what Okashira sent me:

    Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

Warrah, thanks for the insight. So 24s it is. So I'll build a 24s4p or 24s5p. Next step is to get all the parts and figure out how to connect all the wires. As far as speed goes, I'm going to use it primarily in urban/city streets. The current ride with the BBS02 only takes me 25 minutes to...

    Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

Here is a tech support request I sent to Adaptto.com regarding an E-Kross Frame + GT4000 72-96V 4000W hub build. Any insight would be appreciated. **UPDATE** the information I listed for the voltage was INCORRECT (thanks all of you that either publicly or via PM pointed out the error). It...

    Focus Planet BBS02 + Nuvinci 360 UPDATED

Spoke to Fallbrook technician today. Definitely something wrong requiring that the unit be returned to them. Have to commend Universal Cycles. They offered to get another N360 hub, build a new wheel and ship it to me, while the defective hub/wheel is shipped back to them at their expense...

    Focus Planet BBS02 + Nuvinci 360 UPDATED

Further research, the range of motion of the shifter at the hub is less than 90 degrees, which I know is not enough. Luckily, I checked this range out of the box when Universal Cycles (who built the wheel) shipped it to me, so I know I didn't change anything. Called Fallbrook support, noobody...

    Focus Planet BBS02 + Nuvinci 360 UPDATED

Finally getting around to the install. I had the bike shop from which I purchased the hub build the wheel. They sent the wrong manual with the hub which made for great fun. I was looking for parts that no longer exist! Here is a link to the current manual (post 2012). The online Youtube videos...

Recommendations on voltmater/ammeter for daytime riding?

If the usage is monitoring then the sampling rate argument doesn't really hold water. The meter is not being tied into another control system to effect changes to anything. It's merely a reference guide to look at what changes. See that B-52 & F-104 in my avatar? We used to use tape or whiteout...

    New E-Bike Conversion - 26" vs 29"

Late to the discussion. EVRon you're correct. What folks are doing is mashing together terms as if they are the same thing. Torque is torque, not bending moment (which folks are describing as torque). They are not the same thing. That's why one needs to use a torque wrench to accurately apply...

Second the seatpost carrier. Here's the Ibera PakRak carrier I've been using (rated for 22lb). Haven't needed any bracing (only used for street riding).

How to crimp a 10 gauge wire to a Anderson PP30 connector

Thanks for posting this. I defer to your experience.... however in aviation situations, soldering is a real no-no. The vibrations (especially with rotorcraft-helicopters) may fatigue the solder/wire interface with potentially disastrous consequences. Only submariners are more afraid of fire than...

Testing 10 gauge Turnigy wire at 100A

I was thinking of using 2 for each polarity; would have a much smaller footprint. See any issues with that approach for a 40A situation? I'd like to get rid of the bullet connector off the BBS02 and "standardize" on PP connections, so I can make up cables to exact lengths. Next would be all...

Testing 10 gauge Turnigy wire at 100A

Dr Bass and others, thanks for all the useful info. I was posting a question on my build thread specifically about the Anderson Power Pole connectors. Why does em3ev (Paul) build the battery connection with six PP connectors, rather than 4 or two larger ones? The battery is a 50V, 22Ah (29E)...

Help find a >=25A continuous battery for Bafang BBS02 750W

Don't know if you can recharge for each leg of the commute or whether you have to do a round trip to recharge. That makes a significant difference... obviously. My commute is 5.5 miles each way with a few significant hills. That was what got me looking for an ebike in first place. Here was my...

    DIY vs prebuilt bikes

If you're going to be a double E then you have to build your own. Nothing will make you perk up more in class than to have a problem in mind ( I really wish I hadn't slept through my 8am EE classes). Should also be able to enlist some help at school if necessary. With your budget I would buy a...

    GT Zaskar - second build

Added the Wattmeter purchased on Amazon for $21. Really not happy with my wiring job and the mounting (as you can see it's not straight). Got the Sugru package today so I'm going to fix the mounting. For the bike wiring in general, I really don't like all the wires, so I ordered a crimper...

    GT Zaskar - second build

Points taken. I'm happy with the BBS02 and I do like that a separate controller box is not required. The Samsung battery is more than enough to get to work and back without a recharge, so something half it's size would be useable. It just barely didn't fit vertically on the seat post. I'm...

    GT Zaskar - second build

So I've decided one bike is not enough..... Build #1 has a rack, mirrors, fenders and all the stuff for the daily commute. Looking for a second build which I can use for commutes but want to take on light trails as well. Definitely want it to be somewhat stealthy. No big batteries (commute is...

First Build: Diamondback Insight Hybrid Commuter

Chickened out on the Carbon bike. Got it home and started looking at the how a BBS02 might fit. Turns out The BB and down tube are completely flat and 68mm wide, so the BBS02 bolt would impact the frame without some shim/wedge being built. Concerned about a Mac10 on the rear (torque). Weighed...

First Build: Diamondback Insight Hybrid Commuter

You got me thinking and it's all your fault!! Went to the LBS and they had a Diamondback Overdrive Carbon for basically half price. So those speeds on your Mac 10 powered bike got me thinking (thinking is bad). What if I got a Mac 10 from em3ev.com and installed it in the rear? If I...
