Do you have temperature monitoring on the battery? Was the battery getting cold since the bike was just sitting outside? I assume the battery was not perpetually cold as then you could never charge it. Did you look into battery heaters? I think I remember seeing some heaters in this thread.

    Help Escooter upgrade to lithium

Don't get lifepo. It is super heavy. 60 x 30 vs 72 x 15 Which is a larger number? The 60v 30ah battery has more energy so it has a longer range. Speed depends on how fast your motor is. Range depends how and how fast you ride.

Why 50V-60V is considered the optimum battery voltage?

Where would you find a (hub)motor with a kV high enough? Or would you build a setup with a reduction?

    E-bike battery charging while riding

If you want to charge the battery with a passive hub motor, you will need to turn that passive hub motor. How can you turn this hub motor? If the passive hub motor is 100% efficient and you want to charge at 100 W then you need to put in 100 W (to move it) only to get out 100 W. You did not...

Limited battery current? How tiny is tiny? Zero FX runs direct drive via single belt reduction. How steep is steep?

Looks like the controller has a 400 amp phase limit, not battery limit. I wouldn't expect to see battery current match phase current, would always be less.

    converting 50cc scooter worthwhile?

A lithium pack that gets you 40km and lasts 1000 cycles would be 40,000 km. That is like 1000+eur of fuel. But you would need to either remove the battery or heat it in the winter. A battery to get you 40km will be around 10kg. What I did was buy an electric scooter from nettimoto and just...

Alpine passes at low speed with Mid-drive ?

I recommend regen primarily as a way to save brakes, not recapture energy. I recommend direct drive hub motors for the lack of maintenance vs geared systems (hub and mid drive). I never looked into the price of the BBSHD till now, looks like it is over 600 USD. For that price you could get two...

Alpine passes at low speed with Mid-drive ?

Which geared hub motor can survive a two hour climb at 10% grade? I do not have experience with geared hub motors, but they seem setup for failure with their moving parts. Also regen braking might be of use on decent. On Ebikes.ca 's motor sim, the Bafang G01 will overheat at 350 W continuous...

Alpine passes at low speed with Mid-drive ?

I would build a 20" direct drive hub motor ebike. Use Statorade (Ferofluid) in the motor. See: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=868394&display_history=true With this you can have regen braking on the way down and save brakes. Maintenance is way lower with direct drive hub...

Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motors

Bit of a warning I might have missed somewhere: Do not stick the syringe nozzle near the magnets if you want a metered application. I popped my syringe cap open and brought the syringe tip into contact with the rotor magnets and half of the fluid was basically sucked out of the syringe.

Burned my hand from a short

Where do you park your bike? How do you charge the batteries? Of course if everyone lived in a temperate climate and had a garage then there is no need to remove the battery and if everyone could bring in their motorbike into the office / classroom to charge / stay safe then the battery can...

    more power for climbing hills

Volts * Amp * hours (V *Ah) gives you energy not power. Energy is power times time. Of the same type of battery if the Wh are the same the performance is the same. Those batteries are every similar in spec, so they will climb the same.

    more power for climbing hills

Motors have a KV value in rpm per volt. This means for one given motor the higher the voltage of your battery the faster it can spin, more top speed. You can get a higher KV motor and have more speed with lower voltage. Batteries have a nominal voltage in V, nominal capacity rated in Ah (ampere...

    more power for climbing hills

Why do you have a massive hub motor and a tiny 25A controller? You can start hooking up batteries in parallel to gain more kWh and more discharge capability. Or just get a new pack. C rate and Wh is what counts. Make sure the BMS can handle the discharge rates. For your motor at least 7kW so...

The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

On version 1.008 48V model, after charge complete you can only see Ah not Wh. During the charge the display will cycle through both. I would like Wh to always be displayed, as part of the screen saver text too.

Battery pack size for electric motorcycle moped?

3kw is nominal. Peaks can be 2-3x if your battery and controller can support. Temp sensor on motor copper + ferofluid in hub motors and you can dump a lot of current into a motor. Of course there are electromagnetic limits too.

Controller Thermal Limits, Phase vs Battery Current.

Is phase current the only current causing the FETs to heat up? Why are controllers speced at DC current limits? Is the limiting factor the DC side of the controller (PCB traces and shunts)? Would this mean that we can draw more battery amps from a lower voltage system to get the same torque...

Battery pack size for electric motorcycle moped?

Ah does not measure capacity. Wh is a measure of energy capacity. Going fast is expensive. either spend money on energy storage or spend money or weight reduction and aerodynamics.

Battery pack size for electric motorcycle moped?

Go 18650 lithium right from the start. Build it yourself or source one from the forums or online store. At 40 mph expect to use 70+ Wh/mile. 40 mile range = 40 miles x 70 Wh/mile = 2800 Wh then divide by .75 since you don't want to fully discharge your pack and you get 2800 / .75 = 3700 Wh aka...

That sucks. Should always have a spare controller lying around. Set the connectors up for quick swapping. So are you returning the controller? Future plans with controllers? Or a spare E bike. My scooter is down too right now too. I turned my bicycle into an e bike. Used the same 1.8kwh batt...
