Townie bicycle is getting too many compliments - Uglify

You can get plasti dip in spray cans in different colors. That stuff is made to peel off when you want it off

    Luna slow and unprofessional

I think you invited it. A guy starts a thread about his dealings with a vendor and you jump down his throat saying he should have researched more. If threads like this weren't started there would be no source of information to research in the first place. And just for the record, your first...

    Bicycle Conversion Recommendations

With 10 Pounds of battery and 5 more of motor your bike will be a boat anchor also. Turns out that the motor won't be helping you, you will be helping the motor.

    Battery problem

I wouldn't trust that thing in my house! Charge and store it in your barbque grill! Regardless of what happens those cells have been seriously stressed. I'd insist on a replacement.

    first build

If you just go with one motor the money you save will allow you to buy a great pre built battery. I match a 52 volt 13 ah battery with a magic pie edge and love it. If you did that you'd have money left over and running at 52 volts instead of 36 would make up for the lost motor to a large degree.

Bafung BBS02, mixing it with non powered bikes

I think throttle only is the way to go here. But program it to current rather than speed so you get a nice progressive ramp up.

Bafung BBS02, mixing it with non powered bikes

The immediate and automatic response is to clamp on the brakes, by the time you think to pull on wires etc you are over the cliff or in the path of traffic. I agree brake disconnects are a good idea!

I get it that you like to tinker and mod your bike, me too. But my point is that you could have started with a bare frame and not had to throw away he rest of the bike! Enjoy the KoolAid! Peace out.

Well putting out a substandard bike and convincing many to buy it just creates a secondary market for others to fill with upgrade parts. The fact remains that you yourself have replaced the motor, controller, and battery with upgraded parts that just shows that the original ebike was wholly...

Relative quietness between MAC hub motor and BBS02

I can answer my own question now since I have them both. On hard acceleration they are about the same volume but each has a different quality. At slow cruise the BBS02 is quieter. At fast cruise you really don't hear much of either one compared to wind and tire noise.

Middrive vs. rear hub for my first e-bike

Yes you definitely don't want yo get caught on a hill in the wrong gear. But if you look ahead and anticipate your needs it's not a big deal. That said, I am a throttle man myself.

So you replaced every part that makes it an ebike- motor, controller, battery, and then added a derailleur and gears threw away the rack and installed fenders from an Electra and a different seat and you contend that it is a great bike! Are you kidding? The only thing left is the frame!

Middrive vs. rear hub for my first e-bike

The PAS in a BBS02 is completely internal. You don't need to install anything. I agree with getting a BBS02 unless you don't mind the extra money for the BBSHD.

    Best bicycle rack

I have the Saris super clamp. It's great, holds two bikes up to 60 pounds each. Works with any frame design because it only touches the wheels not the frame. Only weighs about 30 pounds so it goes on and off no sweat, just one bolt. And it works with road bikes, fat bikes, and anything in...

Bafang bbs01/02 36v motor maximum voltage

Voltage doesn't give you power, voltage gives you top speed. If you need more power you need to draw more amps.

    Infineon connectors, are they ok?

Do you guys keep the original connectors, they look a bit sketchy to me? Do you find them reliable?

How to mount the darn controller!

So funny you said that because that is exactly what I am going to do! I am mounting the controller to the two arms that attach the front of the rack to the seat post.

How to mount the darn controller!

Thanks guys! You have all given me ideas and a good starting point to figure out something for my particular set up. I will definitely mount the controller in free air stream but at the same time I wonder how makers like Bafang and Golden Motor can get away with putting their controllers...

How to mount the darn controller!

Reading the forum gives me the impression that putting the controller in a bag is a no no. Given that, what do you do about the rats nest of wires? I want a clean look but need some ideas on how to achieve that. Thanks!
