    Bafang M400 (Max) Issue

Yeah, thanks E-HP & amberwolf, I think you are firming up my suspicions, and moreso that it's an overall battery sag. It's a stutter and occasion momentary cutout & has (so far) only happened dragging my fat chops up a steep hill when nearing the last of the battery charge, I'm a bit concerned...

    Bafang M400 (Max) Issue

I posted this on the Bafang group page and for some reason it wasn't allowed. I'll have to swap out parts to narrow it down, my thoughts are electrical rather than mechanical: Bafang Max (M400) Problem- Anyone have experience with these (or maybe the BBS does similar)? Mine seems to be getting...

    Frame Bracing a Folding Bike

Three birds, I want to move the/a battery, would like to use the space for a frame bag (as well), and was thinking any support in compression would only benefit this bike... ie. it's hinge doesn't have to bear as much constant bending force . I'm not sure what 'wont work' about it? Iv'e seen...

    Frame Bracing a Folding Bike

hey I'm not sure if there is even a better forum to ask or get ideas from. I did search, i'm thinking others would have considered this, even done something similar. I really like this little folding bike: I really want to move the battery into the frame. Iv'e worked with fibreglass, to a...

    Importing EBikes to Australia

Cheers, the sample bike was $645US to ship, which added around 50% to the cost. I can't imagine needing more than 15/20 but they still appear much cheaper by slow boat.

    Importing EBikes to Australia

Yeah, I hear about the US tariff  Bikes are only $185US to ship, part of a container I guess. Iv'e tried a few brokers and of a dozen, 2 got back eventually. looks around $750 brokerage but i'm just trying to see if there's any hidden stoppers/big expenses.. I have tried to pin down...

    Importing EBikes to Australia

Understand there are a few Aussie members, any tips or advice? I purchased one ebike via alibaba and want more, the supplier has agreed to ship 5 and supplied a quote inc. just their purchase cost FOB plus shipping. The first one came by air and shipping was expensive. The rest are much cheaper...

    Nkon not shipping outside EU?

You can still organise a large batch by sea freight but yeah, my order bumped around europe before going missing altogether. I'm sure it took a lot more of my time and effort than the vendors to chase up.. before applying for a refund.

Ok, so I crashed again today...Is it time for a trike in the city?

There's a big difference between 2.8 and 4+, especially at adequate fat bike road pressures. And if knobbies especially, they tend to grab and squirm over ridges rather than get railed by them (to a point)

    Rear Bafang Hard Tail

I had a similar design and that newer grin(?)torque arm you got on my Norco. Managed to fit it under the chainstay on the drive side. You might consider exiting the battery wire to the rear and bringing it around in a loop (to make room for the TA and so it doesn't funnel water into the hub)/

Ok, so I crashed again today...Is it time for a trike in the city?

Fat Tyres? I find them much more forgiving. They allow you to look around a bit and squirm over the ruts. Life saver in Yellowstone.

    Controlling PAS

Yeah, not familar with how they are setup but mine seems to get going after it passes one magnet but it's got no display PAS control so I'm thinking it's at full power. In the wrong position/limited circumstances it's deadly! The bike came with this generic brushless controller (which prob wont...

    Controlling PAS

Without a display? I want to try PAS only, without throttle or display. But PAS is horrible. It takes off to quick and sudden, it took off when I was sitting idle and put too much pressure on the pedal.. with the handlebars at too much angle, and threw me hard past the bars... and it keeps...

    General Inquiry from Oz

I'd agree on the hub motor and iv'e seen locally advertised hub bikes for less than a grand. I got one through dick smith. Lietner have been around a while selling cheap ebikes but I have no experience with their bikes. Progear bikes with their mid-drive are another step up worth considering. I...

    eggrider compatibility w/ leafmotor controllers?

I asked Grin recently regarding SW-102 and was educated as above. I went with a rear Bafang in my folder (but could replace it for the cost of the g311 shipped).

Rear hub or Mid-drive (should I just flip a coin?)

Both? A small DD motor in hub wont cost a lot. If you are going to change bikes you can use the same battery. I'm not sure if it's an option there yet but (as an alternative) the bafang max /mid drive are cheap and probably also the ultra? It wasn't much more cost than a home-build for mine in a...

    E Hiking Cart

hmmm, yeah. So scratch the remark about expense, a dodgy aliexpress took care of that. I ordered a motor (i'll try 36v first as iv'e got the batteries already) but realised it had a side-mount bracket. I cancelled the order and ordered the right one (with a base mount) from the same vendor. I...

    E Hiking Cart

Yeah, thanks. It looks like I might need to just give it a go, the components are refreshingly cheap. i was thinking to use one of my 36v batteries and try a 36v motor, which it seems is what the pictured cart uses, and may be why the big cog. I guess I could still use these batteries through a...

    E Hiking Cart

Thanks Sleepy, some great ideas. Looking at what was used on the above setup I'd expect he needed the big big cog (80T?) to get advantage of the power down slow enough, even bigger than those add-on rag-cogs. I get the feeling the size may not leave too many options in practice. I' can try a...

    E Hiking Cart

Yeah, it really needs to handle single rough tracks, sometimes steep and rocky or else muddy and overgrown.. def single wheel territory. Thanks for the links, I'd not thought of aliexpress, it seems the likely sorce looking at that, I see they also have a big freewheel cog in this kit :)...

    E Hiking Cart

Yeah, thanks for your thoughts. I have a 26" fat wheel but then my spare hub mtr is geared for 20" /it's all 36v I did find this in my searchings, though i think it must be direct drive with that big cog (and he says 10:1) (it's out of my price bracket) It may be better to try this way...

    E Hiking Cart

I'm considering building an electric single wheel pull/push cart to carry hiking food supplies. Have seen one made with a hub mtr and I have a spare geared motor which I expect would be best (gear reduction in the motor plus gear reduction in the chainline) but trying to get head around the best...
