    Overvolting

Thank you HK12K. Before disassembling the whole bike (too many plastic parts that may easily break), I was wondering if there is any previous experience that I can leverage on. My scooter is a Taotao806, please see photo attached. If any of you guys have overvolted this scooter I would be...

What limits the speed of an electric Taotao scooter ?

Thanks for sharing your story, Dauntless. May I ask how yours burned up? I guess I need to find out more about the motor of my scooter, unfortunately there is not much info from the manufacturer. However the outside of my motor looks exactly like the QS. Mine also has a rear disc brake. I...

Installing a new controller on Taotao 806

Hi HK12K, I suspect that the blue/white wire actually comes from the brake levers and it is just grouped together with the throttle wires in a 4 pin connector. The signal is sent when I pull the brake levers, either the front or the back one. When I disconnect that wire, the throttle still...

    Overvolting

Hi, If I overvolt my scooter from 60V to 72V, assuming the controller can take the higher voltage, is there any other part/component in the scooter that I also need to upgrade? Will lights, horn and other electrical parts be able to deal with the higher voltage? Thanks!

Installing a new controller on Taotao 806

I found out that the fourth blue/wire in throttle connector sends a signal to the controller preventing the motor from turning when the brakes are on. Any idea on what wire to connect to it in the diagram attached? Thanks!

What limits the speed of an electric Taotao scooter ?

Thanks drunkskunk. I already disconnected the black and white wire that limits the speed. With this wire connected, top speed was 20km/h.

What limits the speed of an electric Taotao scooter ?

Thanks dogman dan. My idea of getting a bigger controller is just to have a higher speed in case I need it, I am aware that I should not go at top speed for prolonged time to not damage the battery. At the same speed (let's say 30km/h) would the bigger controller take more battery capacity...

What limits the speed of an electric Taotao scooter ?

I got a Taotao scooter that came with a 60V lead acid battery and a 500W motor. It has a top speed of 40km/h. The scooter feels solid and it feels that it can handle a higher speed. I have the impression that the motor actual wattage is higher. The math is simple. If the battery can deliver...

Installing a new controller on Taotao 806

Thanks Markz. I will disconnect the throttle cable to check if the voltage gauge still works. Any idea on what wire I can use to replace it in the new controller? Sorry I was not able to load the photos, I got the following message, which I didn't understand, as the photos were saved in my...

Installing a new controller on Taotao 806

I got a new controller with a 3-wire throttle cable, but the current throttle connector on this scooter has a total of four wires. Three wires look standard and are red, black and green. There is an extra wire that is blue/white, which I don't know what it is. Please let me know if you have...
