motor to make "digital drive" feasible?

I made a tiny bike for my daughter who refuses to learn to ride. (Don't get me started.) She has amazingly strong legs, as demonstrated on her fat-tire trike, but I pulled the pedals off of this bike. My goal was to make an electric version of her Strider, which is way too small now. I want...

Is there a reliable torque sensor?

I've been using T9 BBs with some success and lots of failures. I've got a stack of dead ones. I have a couple T17 BBs "out for delivery" right now but I'm wondering if I should rethink my approach. The more I read about torque sensors, the more I notice comments about how bad the designs are...

    KT-22A controllers dead?

I bought a couple of 48V KT-22A controllers along with an LCD4. I tried both controllers with the same result. I connected the LCD, PAS, motor, and brakes. I powered from a 48V battery that reads 51V. I power on and the display shows normal (but zero bars of battery) and then quickly...

    delta trike differentials

What's the state of delta trike differentials? My Kett has none. A cheap trike conversion axle I bought has none, but a more expensive version of it has one. (I think it's the South American version.) I suspect it's just an overrunning/sprag clutch but I haven't played with it much. I've...

    Fully disable PAS on Lectric?

I want to disable PAS on my Lectric. I found a controller setting to make it throttle only, but PAS still has to be set to non-zero upon startup. Is there any way to make the controller disregard PAS altogether? (I'm trying to avoid getting another controller for it.)

    disassembling half-twist throttle

Anyone have a favorite tool for disassembling half-twist throttles? My first version of a tool (attached) work but I really had to jam it in. Now that I have it apart, I see that my tool could have had much more chamfer. (I just realized that this picture doesn't show the chamfer. Oops.)

    twist throttle magnets and springs

I'm looking for the long, thin, rounded (arc?) magnets of a twist throttle. I don't even know what to call them so it's not surprising I haven't found them. Any pointers? I'd also like to find existing torsion springs of the right size. Thank you. --kyler

    hub motor for 19X7-8 tire?

I have a mini-bike rolling chassis that I want to electrify. I was planning to use a motor with the chain drive, but I wonder if there's a suitable (geared?) hub motor that will fit the 19X7-8 tires.

Mongoose Kong (fat tire) bike for child

I started this bike long ago. It's a Mongoose Kong 4.0 20" fat tire bike. I added an eRider torque sensing BB with 150mm (unicycle) crank arms. Front tire has a 1000W(?) direct-drive motor. I milled the torque arms. I made the ends for a Flipsky 75100 to seal it and fit on the down tube. I...

What do you call the M14 flange nuts for hub motors?

I bought a bunch of M14x2.0 flange nuts for my hub motors. The problem I have with a new build is that the flange is a little too big - almost 29mm. Bolts that came with some of my motors are 26mm. The larger flange conflicts with the head of the screw I'm using in my current dropout...

Where do I get fat tire trike hubs?

My daughter says she wants her 20" fat tire e-bike to be a trike. I bought one of the cheap trike conversion axles. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BJPRTBQ6 On the drive side, there's a double-D shaft. It looks like these wheels are made for this application. https://www.ebay.com/itm/195734441269...

VESC: Can I make PAS work better than ADC with only torque?

I'm reviving a kid bike I started years ago. I finally got a decent (48V 9.6Ah) battery mounted and swapped out a faulty BB connector/coil. It works! It's back to where it was. Now I need to tweak the software. I've always controlled it using only the T9 torque sensor feeding ADC1 in ADC...

    60V low-current switches?

I'm looking for water-resistant switch assemblies for a 60V project. Handlebar or (flat) surface mounting is fine. The switches I'm finding are rated for 12V or occasionally 24V. I only need to switch a couple amps. Suggestions?

pedal sensor error when cable tied to frame

This problem has been vexing me for over a month. I think I finally narrowed it down. I need to talk through it... I'm now building a 26" fat tire Mongoose. I a similar 20" Mongoose. It's a VESC controller, Sempu T9 pedal sensor, 48V battery, and eBikeling front hub. The Sempu sends about...

wheels with motors *only* now available

Thursday (two days ago) night, I finished making the wire harnesses for another bike for my girls. I had just received some new bags so I was testing to see how a larger battery would fit in them. Well...I did something dumb...really dumb. The wiring harness was still connected to the wheel...

    Sempu T9 pedal torque sensor

I got a couple of T9s and I'm collecting information about them. Attached is a zip of some images that the seller sent me. Although it specifies 8-12V supply, I find that the torque reading is fairly stable >=5.6V. Working at 5.0V would be such a great simplification!

    Sempu T9 current requirement

Anyone know the current requirement for the T9? I found specs for the T4, but that has a much different supply (10-60V vs. 8-12V). (I wish the T9 could handle 60V!)

seeking 20" front fat tire hub motor

I'm building several electric bikes for my family to enjoy on our trails. My first project is a Mongoose Kong. I want AWD, so I need a hub motor for the front wheel. It has a 20"x4" 36-spoke rim. The current axle is 3/8"-24. A 10mm bolt fits much better in the dropout, though. It has a...

geared front hub motor for Mongoose Kong?

I've been collecting electric bike parts for years. I finally have a project that's forcing me to actually make a bike...or five; for Christmas this year, my girls (6, 9, 11 & wife) decided that we can only give things that we make. I want to make(/assemble) electric fat tire bikes for all of...
