Hammering "thunk" noise from my 10" hub motor

I was able to slowly and slightly turn the throttle enough to not spin the wheel but i can hear something spinning very slowly inside the hub. What is the throttle and drive settings do you recommend trying? I have the KLS7145N kelly controller.

Hammering "thunk" noise from my 10" hub motor

"Electromechanical" What a cool word!!! I did changed some throttle settings, will look into it again. There's no switch in my throttle. This is the throttle i'm using. I will look into changing some settings before opening the hub again. Thanks!

Hammering "thunk" noise from my 10" hub motor

Thanks for taking the time to help with this. I'm pretty sure it's not loose in the torque arm. I've taken the hub off the bike and clamped it down on the vice grip (the bolt). I would hold on to the tire while slightly twisting the throttle. The noise is definitely coming from inside the...

Hammering "thunk" noise from my 10" hub motor

Here's my torque arm. I'm using the plate provided by the QS. The hub bolt sits pretty snug in it. I'm pretty sure there's no play when power is applied.

Not sure what the torque-arms are but i can produce the noise on the bench.

Hammering "thunk" noise from my 10" hub motor

How did you figure it was controller damage? Any way to test it? or did you just replaced the controller?

1957 Lambretta LD 150 EV conversion

It looks easy but it's not. The swing arm was easier than i thought. Since i thought it was hard, i wasted a lot of time measuring things over and over. I was nervous at every cut and every weld. I was so mad at the wiring diagram, i almost throw up a couple of times. I was lucky to have a...

I think that works too. Although in the US, we usually spell it without the extra "E".

Thanks for sharing the pics. Such a clean build! I like Lampretta. I think it might be cool to make a badge for your scooter using the original font.

Hammering "thunk" noise from my 10" hub motor

I’ve been looking all over but can’t find another behaving like mine. When i quickly twist the throttle, the noise happens just as I release the throttle. When free spinning, no noise. When very slowly release the throttle, no noise. In the below video, to prevent the scooter from lunging...

1957 Lambretta LD 150 EV conversion

I did found a pair of shock that fits perfectly and has the right load 400 lb each. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H69MM92?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details The headlight is basically two screens in front of the bulb. One is a privacy window cling and the other is yellow/green tint. The...

1957 Lambretta LD 150 EV conversion

Wow!!!! So nice to see another LD conversion. Do you have a build thread? Any more pics? I'm very interested in how you adapted the motor in place of the flywheel. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for noticing the boomcase. I like hi-fi stuff inside lo-fi environments. It has bluetooth and a USB charging station. People trip out on it at the beach.

    Swing arm question

Thanks for the kind words on my first attempt. Will look into extra gusseting. The hard paint is definitely a good idea, i did not think about that. Is there a specific kind you recommend? car paint, house paint? I spent a good amount on my build. I still have $$ left for shocks. Will be...

    Swing arm question

I’m pretty new at welding. I tried to make my swing arm as strong as possible. The original design was to have two shock absorber, one on each side of the arm to balance the reaction force of the shock to avoid twist and bending of the swing arm. The issue here is that with two shock...

1957 Lambretta LD 150 EV conversion

I tried to install a charge port in the old fuel petcock 10mm hole but couldn't find anything that fits. I ended up putting the lever back on. The old choke lever became my headlight switch. Pretty happy with it.

Thanks for sharing. I definitely don't want to roast anything on my scooter. I guess i will have to find another method. I think the charger is pushing 15A out.

Those female connector has a waterproof cap on them. They are also mounted under my seat, so super slim chance that water can get in. Any idea on a charge port that fits inside the 10mm opening?
