Free Daymak Beast - Going to max this "Beast" out

I just want to make is fun. Ill throw some extra power at it and see what it seems like it can handle. Its going to need a battery reguardless.

Free Daymak Beast - Going to max this "Beast" out

That is a very interesting idea. They did make a 2wd version but this is just the single. I wonder how hard it would be to find the matching front wheel hub motor! There are some great dual motor VESC controllers as well. If anyone know where to find this hub this could make for a more exciting...

Free Daymak Beast - Going to max this "Beast" out

My plan for this was just for fun. I am in Reno NV so there are lots of off-road trails. I really hope this thing can handle a lot more than 1000w! Maybe statoraid can help! If this thing is really going to be that limited I may just get it running and sell it. I already have 2 electric pit...

Free Daymak Beast - Going to max this "Beast" out

I got this Daymak Beast for free. It has the 60v lead acid and some genius zip tied a 60v lithium ion battery under the seat as well. I'm am guessing the SLA battery is dead so they just added another lithium battery and kept lugging around all the lead haha. The wheel motor says "500w" which...

    Gas Generator Hybrid Conversion

The dust is a killer for solar. It doesn't take long to be down to 20% output in full sun. It's 72v and we actually got one running with some little used AGM batteries. Not a good long term option but they are great for proving that the drivetrain is good!

    Gas Generator Hybrid Conversion

@amberwolf - yeah that may be the way we go. That or we bite the bullet and go with standard golf cart batteries or LiFePO4 + AC generator + standard charger, and just try to charge it while running when needed. @JackFlorey - we thought about this but we will actually have inflatable tentacles...

    Gas Generator Hybrid Conversion

I thought about this and I could use a solar charge controller or something to control the charge. But wouldn't the uncontrolled system be almost identical to a car alternator and battery setup? The range extenders seem to be a glorified alternator (higher voltage) mounted to a lawnmower engine...

    Gas Generator Hybrid Conversion

Yes this is exactly what I had planned. Unfortunately I don't know what the draw is because I haven't had any batteries to test with. I just picked up some super cheap AGM batteries and we spent 30minutes of so figuring out how to cobble them into the system for a test. I see power at the...

    Gas Generator Hybrid Conversion

I am building an art car for burning man. The vehicle is a 20ft long "sightseeing tour bus" (2015 Marshell DN-23). It would be great to be EV all the time but I am thinking we may need an onboard generator to be able to cruise around most of the day. What considerations do I need to consider...

    Grade B Cells

After your comment I reached out to the seller to ask for more specifics and they told me that they are manufacturer rated and that they don't have specific specs for what classified them as grade B! That's scary. He also recommended the class A batteries instead. So I will probably go with the...

    Grade B Cells

Thank you for the feedback. That is more or less what I believed. The point about balance is interesting and something I did not consider but I do plan to use a BMS. For some more specificity I am talking about some big prismatic cells and they will be a 24s1p config. The savings look to be...

    Grade B Cells

In real world terms can any explain what a "grade b" cell means? I understand that these cells are not a good choice if you are going to try to push their amp draw limit but for mild, let's say 1/2C use, what will be lost with grade B cells? Half the cycle life? More heat? I guess I am just...

    Severe Motor Chattering Problem?

I have had EXACTLY this symptom using a my1020 motor on a Pitbike. The chinesium controller that came with the motor turned out to be the culprit. It said it was a sine wave controller but I assumed it was trapezoidal. I still don't know if the controller was bad or if it just was a POS. have...

LiFePO4 or Lead Acid for 15 Person Golf Cart for Burning Man

Here is an updated render The vin plate specifies the motor power as 9kw. The original battery bank is 72v 209ah lead acid each battery being 6v I believe. As for range I am hoping for as much as I can get! I would expect to drive about 30 miles a day atleast. I will probably be ordering 24...

LiFePO4 or Lead Acid for 15 Person Golf Cart for Burning Man

I bought 6 15 person golf carts that we are going to refurb and possibly rent out to events. Some of these carts will also be turned into mutant vehicle art cars for burning man. These vehicles already have all of the parts to function as lead acid. For burning man you can't drive over 5mph so...

    Axiom: a 100kW+ motor controller

I am following this thread with bated breath! A big power VESC that can handle serious real EV voltages is a game changer for EV performance. Just throwing this out there: One of my companies does CNC machining, silicone gasket making, and automated potting. We are in Reno NV which is a desert...

my1020 problems when parried with kelly controller

Try the 75200 it is night and day better performance for this application. I think you would find it is MUCH smoother than the stock controller and can accelerate even harder. I am peaking at 8kW with mine.

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

It is. I haven't tried messing with it yet. One of the many features to explore in the future. As far as I know with the 75100 and 75200 the only thing you cannot use is phase filtering. According to flipsky you must disable it or you may damage your controller.

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

I dont think so but I just updated the firmware. It only takes like 3 or 4 clicks and a couple of minutes. Its essentially the easiest part of using VESC.

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Phase. 200 battery would melt the controller down in seconds I would imagine. All of the VESC stuff I have seen is rated in phase. It's a bit misleading and makes people (including myself with the 75100) over estimate the controllers but they are still a killer value. $200 prime shipped for a...

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Just tested it again with the Bluetooth and it tickles 7kW at 150a which is probably dangerous with my cheapo motor and my 3D printed motor mount  thats over 9hp mounted entirely with plastic and melt set threaded inserts! Feeling dangerous I went ahead and bumped it to 200a for a couple...

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

I just got the Bluetooth running (they had the wrong wire lead plugged into the port) so I can test my peak wattage but I know I am running 150a phase and it really moves well considering the budget of this project. I will report back tonight about the peak measured wattage. I would not...

    My1020 3000W Pitbike - budget build

It isn't really programming as in coding or anything. It is just a graphic interface with tons of options and values that can be set. I would say difficulty to get a motor setup and working using the config wizards is like a 3 out of 10. Just follow a guide. The difficulty of figuring out what...

FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

I swapped from the 75100 to the 75200 last night. Once it was wired up and connected I started over fresh and it probably took 10 minutes to get it programmed. If I was really focused I could probably do it in 3! The basics are very easy once you get used to the process. The first time probably...
