Aged 20S battery out of balance

update: charged to 100%, same issue has occurred, group 1 pretty much untouched at 4v, 2nd group way below the rest, and groups 3-20 all balanced between eachother. I'm pretty sure something is wrong with the pack and am seeking a new one immediately, most likely not even worth it to try to...

Aged 20S battery out of balance

I emailed EM3EV who said they no longer make custom batteries and the highest voltage they go up to is 14S. I've heard about ebikes.ca, I guess despite the price, they don't offer the amount of parallels, I'm looking for at least 20amph, probably around 25amph.

Aged 20S battery out of balance

Appreciate the information. Do you know of any reputable battery builders that can make a battery like this safely? I'm located in the tri state area (NYC) and would prefer to get something locally, but if I would need to buy one shipped that would help. I've heard of lite speed in New Jersey...

Aged 20S battery out of balance

Hi, I've owned this 20s custom battery (made with boston power cells) for 3 years and it's older than that by a few years, I've only given it 180 cycles. I've never had issues with the battery itself, but last night the BMS cut off 3 times and after inspecting it noticed group 1 was at 4v...

QS 205 main hall connector fails test, spare one passes?

Now that you mention it, it's always been kind of noisy. I do know that I've used the tester on it, for this set of halls and the halls were shown to work perfectly. One thing to note is that, I had to make "converter" type connector to connect the controller and the motor's halls. The motor...

QS 205 main hall connector fails test, spare one passes?

Ah okay, didn't know that. So the controller is still fine, by the way. I'm running it hallless mode, in fact I can't even tell a difference without the hall sensors plugged in. The ebike tester doesn't show the 5V controller light come on, but the controller still works so not sure what that...

QS 205 main hall connector fails test, spare one passes?

appreciate the response, Im mostly trying to understand what happened. So yes, what I mean by the lights "stuck" and "frozen" is, yes they are not changing state at all. Two of them are always on, one of them is off. However, for the spare hall this isn't the case. All of them work. It is...

QS 205 main hall connector fails test, spare one passes?

Hi, so recently the positive end of discharge connector on my pack tore and that damaged my controller, which I will replace. I have the ebike tester device (the generic chinese one) and it showed that the coils on the motor are fine, but the halls for the main hall sensor showed two lights...

2 short weeks after QS205 and 100A controller installed, something blew

Latest update: Got it working by using a cheap, $30 controller from Ebay that runs with and without halls. Actually running it with halls too. The motor is working perfect, seems like the controller was the bad part the whole time.

2 short weeks after QS205 and 100A controller installed, something blew

Honestly not sure, ebikes are certainly not my expertise. All I recall is to put 16 in that category because the QS 205 has 16 pole pairs. Anyway, update. So I was able to connect the tester to the device into the motor by simply sticking ends to the back of the 6 pin connector of the hall...

2 short weeks after QS205 and 100A controller installed, something blew

So I've purchased the "ebike tester" device ready to test out the hall and phase connections on both the motor and controller. Controller might be a complete dud, motor will be interesting. Only thing is, the connectors on both are different, with the tester having the standard 6 pin and the...

2 short weeks after QS205 and 100A controller installed, something blew

Appreciate the advice, I'll check out the link. Starting out with the lowest hanging fruit, the battery connector. Voltage is correct, 80.3V on the actual discharge connector as well as battery + and - on the controller. Light just doesn't come on, might change the connector and see if that does...

2 short weeks after QS205 and 100A controller installed, something blew

ok understood, thank you. I somehow was able to get in contact with someone in possession of a few Sabvotons who also has experience with these types of bikes. My biggest worry is the motor fried or something. I'll reach back on Wednesday and update what he says. All I remember is the motor was...

2 short weeks after QS205 and 100A controller installed, something blew

Hi all, I made 2 previous posts troubleshooting the damn bike. Finally I was able to configure a 50H QS205 V3 with a SIAECOSYS 100A controller (sabvoton clone) by passing the hall test, putting the correct parameters (245 hall angle, 16 poles, etc.) By putting it into the spare halls, I was...

Insane amount of trouble setting up QS 205 with SIA 100A contro

They're Boston Power 5300 cells, I purchased this from someone who built it so not too familiar. 20S and I think 5P? Amperage is 25amph roughly, probably the motor h I do know the battery is 4 years old at least. To get rid of this issue I would need a bigger battery with higher amperage I'm...

Insane amount of trouble setting up QS 205 with SIA 100A contro

Rode it a bunch more. So the switching to the spare halls basically removed the stalling at takeoff as long as I'm easy on the throttle and steady. Basically, if I go a little too far into the throttle, there's a chance I will feel the motor will start seizing on me. At one point while riding at...

Insane amount of trouble setting up QS 205 with SIA 100A contro

Ok I MAY have "fixed" it! I put "fixed" in quotes because I didn't actually do anything to the settings. Based on the tip from Neptronix about phase and colors being off - as well as a call to Greenpath (I believe his name was TShawn or something) who said he wasn't too familiar with it, but...

Insane amount of trouble setting up QS 205 with SIA 100A contro

No I have not, I guess I can try that but I don't think that's the issue - it's the motor response. I called a local bike shop (Greenpath NYC) and they said, the jerkiness at startup and at speed sounds like an issue with the halls/phase combination and/or the programming. In terms of...

Insane amount of trouble setting up QS 205 with SIA 100A contro

Update - so when I reduced the DC amps to 25 and phase amps to 50 in the blutooth settings, the stalling still occurs on takeoff, but once you're rolling and giving it steady throttle there's no stalling and it rides fine - albeit slow, 20mph roughly. As soon as I bump the settings (eg. DC 35...

Insane amount of trouble setting up QS 205 with SIA 100A contro

Definitely not, both are separate. The BMS is some generic 20S 50A blutooth BMS, one port for charge/discharge that I can use to monitor the cells/activity and kind of alter settings a bit. The controller is SIAECOSYS which is essentially sabvoton programming with a different name slapped on. I...

Insane amount of trouble setting up QS 205 with SIA 100A contro

Sure, I'll just the battery's (relevant) information right here. Really not sure what the speed limiting setting does on the BMS, but I figured it might've been reducing the current draw on the controller so I changed it. So the DC current has to be roughly half the phase current? Can I set...

Insane amount of trouble setting up QS 205 with SIA 100A contro

Ok just rode it (read - baby'd it) for about 30 minutes to an hour. The stuttering issue mostly goes away once you actually start moving. It's only when you are moving from a hard stop, or climbing like a minor hill. Basically, when the motor is under a little stress, once it's actually rolling...

Insane amount of trouble setting up QS 205 with SIA 100A contro

The controller is basically identical to a Sabvoton that's 100A, down to the software and programming. I've attached the settings here. The halls/phases I've basically didn't touch and just color coded as is. The halls went with its corresponding connector, and the phase I just color coded...

Insane amount of trouble setting up QS 205 with SIA 100A contro

Hi all, QS205 50H V3I SIAECOSYS 7230 100A 72V 25amph pack with 50A BMS So I've gotten this far - I've wired the connections I believe properly such that it comes out without any errors. Ignition (orange wire), throttle, ethrottle, and battery wires. After much headache setting up the software...

Passing the hall test on a SIA7230 and QS205

ok... I think I MIGHT have gotten it. So on the USB programming, if you set all the parameters in succession, and press OK in succession (multiple times) the test will activate. I just passed it a number of times with a hall angle of 243, which is right about the 245 number the manufacturer gave...
