    Burned yellow butt splice connector

I just came across a similar issue, repaired with solder and spread the wires apart for more air separation. Attached image is of the before, I caught it before it got sparky, soldered the joint and added speed holes to the casing for more air flow.

I'm leaning towards that myself, what kind of controllers do you prefer?

Motor controller high voltage protection causing an issue

yes, voltage set at P03 for 60v. I just took it for a ride at 58.8, LCD showed 61%, 5% under throttle. Voltage at full throttle showed 50v.

Motor controller high voltage protection causing an issue

that's correct, the percent moved inverse to the voltage on the LCD to follow up, 14s shows 58.8v and 61% on the LCD, I'm going for a bike ride.

Motor controller high voltage protection causing an issue

Hola, TL, DR, any voltage over 60v is too much. This is information about the G-Drive Dual System motor controller ver 2.0, prod num ZN-A20 with a S830 LCD panel. The motor controller states it is a 36-48v controller but in the programing mode it allows the following voltages to be accepted...

Child's bike, front wheel drive, built from scraps

this has a single use disposable headset... almost as bad as the pedals, maybe worse.... . walmart demands cost reduction. This would be a terrible idea on a long life bike.... however this is a walmart huffy, it will likely be eaten by sea-air corrosion in 2 years.

Child's bike, front wheel drive, built from scraps

the negative goes directly from battery to motor, positive is attached to the frame. I've found that the negative gets hot faster, since there's no fuse the rider's thumb acts as a heat activated switch. My 1st ebike was this style with a lawnmower starter and heavy lead battery in a beach...

Child's bike, front wheel drive, built from scraps

Motor is from a razor scooter, the battery is temporary till I put a better basket, "throttle" consists of pressing the positive wire to the handlebars to complete the circuit, if it gets hot the duty cycle has been reached and the rider will let go. Drive sprockets are 11:80, I could make it...

Store bought ebike got stuck in full throttle, brakes wouldn't disconnect motor.

thanks for the info, the bike still sucks, the rear brake cut off doesn't work, I suspect it's the pressure switch in the brake lever.

Brake failure resulting in airborne bakfiets

I think you mentioned the straw color of the disc indicating it got to glow hot, surprise surprise, look what's leaking. Temp got high enough to damage the oil hose. This is the front, despite the lack of leak at the rear I'm replacing the hose ends, needles and seats. auto-bleed brakes are not...

Store bought ebike got stuck in full throttle, brakes wouldn't disconnect motor.

The dozen of us on Mastodon know about it, other SM is not my thing and running my mouth is not a going to make anything good happen. Besides, It's a small island, I married in but will forever be gringo. The shitty thing is the price attracts the people that can't afford anything else, I'll...

Store bought ebike got stuck in full throttle, brakes wouldn't disconnect motor.

I do but the bike is not in my possession. I pulled opened the "old" controller and can't find any failed components or magic smoke damage. I did note that there's a bridge that looks suspiciously like regen on that board, it's a cheap $20 controller, they charged me $130 at the shop and I'm...

Store bought ebike got stuck in full throttle, brakes wouldn't disconnect motor.

I'm guessing yes, it's only the 1st cable activated disc brakes I've ridden, here's the bike in all it's "glory", if there's a list of "Do Not Buy" this thing should be top of the list. https://www.supermach.com/collections/electric-bikes/products/hallstatt-foldable-electric-bike-sm06 the...

Store bought ebike got stuck in full throttle, brakes wouldn't disconnect motor.

This one is a bit long as there's some backstory. TL;DR, cheap bikes hurt you In mid Jan 2023 I got a new ebike, sort of... it's a kit on a crappy bike, all the bike bits are Box Store quality, the build was pretty bad too... but PAS is awesome, and cruise control is awesome and with some...

Torque specs for cable disc brakes needed

@PaPaSteve , considering the quality of every other material on this BSO I'm going to assume they are grade 4.8, thanks for the chart @Chalo , I won't destroy it, despite it's efforts to destroy me today.... what do you get when motorcycle shop touches your bicycle? road rash. I'll post the...

Brake failure resulting in airborne bakfiets

I was alternating them fore and aft but couldn't cool them fast enough, I normally stop just before the steepest part and cool them with water before I take the chicanes.... it's a "fun" part of the road, steepest grade with tight curves and single lane wide. At least once a year cars catch fire...

thanks for suggesting a forum user, I'm still very new here. all of my motorcycles and cars have had hyd brakes, drum or disc.. when I built this one I went hyd because I want a lot of WHOA with a lot of GO... the feedback I get from hyd brakes is great.. but the size of of the rim +...

Brake failure resulting in airborne bakfiets

Brake failure resulting in airborne bakfiets

Grascias Papa, this is all good info, if my calipers got hot enough to get sqishy brakes that means mineral oil reaching it's boil point under pressure.... does pressure on oil raise boil point like it does water? Brake failure resulting in airborne bakfiets

I would love to have regen but the cost is outside my range at this time.. I've looked at a Canadian company that makes a regen hub motor, seems like a great power plan for a different bike, maybe for my next build. I appreciate the concern for my health, I was very lucky this time and the bike...
