I’m working on a small AWD (motor per wheel) sports car with an emphasis on aero efficiency and quick recharge time rather than outright battery capacity. This relies on DC fast charge stations (CCS or CHAdeMO.) CCS protocols rely on battery voltage greater than 200V and most CHAdeMO station don’t work under 200V(even though the standard is 50V.)So although I wanted to keep the system low voltage it looks like like it’ll have to be above 200V
Because of this I’m planning my electric system around a 350V battery pack. Looking at available controller options they are all over built an over budget for my application. Are there any options I have missed?
What is the difference between driving MOSFETs and IGBTs for motor control? What are the challenges? How much should I expect to derate IGBTs? What questions should I be asking?
