Hey guys,

Completely new here and to ebikes in general. Recently bought a NewGen 345: https://www.newgenbikes.com/product-page/the-345

It uses a Bafang G06 hub motor, stamped as 250w but if I'm not mistaken it is up to 500w depending what controller and battery I'm using? Motor here: https://bafang-e.com/oem-area/components/component/motor/rm-g060250350500dc/

Currently the bike has a 36v controller, 15A current limit with a 7A nominal. 250w rated power.

The bike maxes out at 15.9mph as per EU regulations, the throttle was supposed to derestrict the bike to around 20mph but after receiving the bike they told me they had to replace the controller last minute to comply with EPAS so long story short... I want to fit a bigger controller: https://www.moddsebikes.co.uk/product/36v-500w-controller

Guessing I'll need to go for a bigger 48v battery as well? Hoping this should push the bike to or just over 20mph but as I mentioned I'm new to all this and don't fully understand if what I want to achieve is possible and if I'm going about it the correct way.

Thank you in advance.

That's a KT controller. It will need a matching KT display to get the most out of it. Double your budget.

Where is the old controller? Is it in the battery or in a compartment? You should examine the existing wires. If they use modular waterproof connectors with molded round plugs, you probably should look for a controller that uses the similar connectors.
