Battery Pack Design

I bought new cells to my kart pack. So they are rated 50A continious, but rather 30A for my opinion. But they can do 60A burst for sure. As I know 6AWG is the largest you can use with QS8-S (if you want to use this plastic cover for soldered contacts).

I just today finished my 12V 6p4s A123 emergency charger pack using 0,3mm and 0,2mm nickel. Could only weld 0,3mm when I splitted it and that also with 200J (130ms and 1700A) using K-weld. And after 40 welds my fuse gave up (it has 300A fuse inside).
That 200J was for positive side, for negative I used 150J and that was fine (so it was with 0,3mm nickel)

Afterwards I welded 0,2mm nickel (where I had soldered 4AWG wires) to that 0,3mm nickel and as 0,2mm was not splitted I used also 200J to get strong weld. And also made a 30 sec pause between welds just in case (output 8AWG welding cables got very hot)

I do not know what welder you are using but test first are you able to weld to positive side at all :)
