I think Agnuism's solution looks like the best compromise of simplicity, durability, function , and cost. Once the foam material starts to lose it's " spring" , simply buy a sheet of it , cut it to fit and keep rolling on . It's a bit pricey at first glance, but I'm not sure you can cheaply make your own setup for what that offers in convenience and adaptability .
