Hi

I bought a Davinci Drive several years ago from the classifed section on this website. I tried mounting it in a bike but I could never get it setup properly so I gave up. I have been looking for a use for it so this is what I have come up with. I invite people to look at what I am doing and point out potential problems.

The motor is a 3220 Astro. I dont know the turn count but I am assuming it is 4 or 5. I plan on running it at 72V with a Kelly controller and a 10p20s battery with Sanyo cells. I am still assembling the battery

I have made a wood mount for the motor that I will be able to bolt into the boat. The motor will be coupled to the shaft with a "Lovejoy" type connector. It is not a solid connector so that should help with any missalignment of the shaft. https://www.lovejoy-inc.com/products/jaw-type-couplings/l-type-standard-jaw-coupling/

The shaft is 1/2 in stainless steel and I will have bushings and an outer pipe on it to make a proper propellor shaft.

The propellor is a Torqueedo v8//p350 that is for one of their 4000watt outboards.

My questions

Will I need some sort of thrust bearing on the shaft? Will the astro overheat? I was thinking of building a cover for safety but leaveing it mostly open for airflow. Is 72volt too dangerous for a homemade boat?IMG_20200726_171722915.jpgIMG_20200815_135526755.jpgIMG_20200815_135543505.jpgIMG_20200817_215923293.jpgIMG_20200817_220009330.jpg
