A guy called Gav from New Zealand is in the process of converting his Car to an EV

you can watch the entire process at:

The guy decided to paint the car before the whole conversion. I just thought it's a bad choice. Maybe it's my clumsy history but there's a high chance there'll be ding while doing the conversion.

Well he finished the project a few weeks ago. He just has to get it certified and repainted.

And by the way it Kiwi :p if all people had the attitude that Kiwi's are cool i wouldn't have to hide my NZ nationality......ops...No Really I am Australian I Swear...

And Yes the Worlds fastest Indian was an awsome Movie...and for those who haven't seen it, its about the worlds fastest Indian Motorcycle...Not some Indian or Native American.... Quite a few of my friends originally refused to see the Movie because they though it was about the Indians...lol

man us aussies need to do a conversion like that... however ADR laws will probably stop us from doing it!

nah we can dude, its quite easy.

howeveri wanna wait for the hub motored cars - now THAT would be an easy conversion!

its the building a car from scratch which is the issue, because they have to meet the same design and safety certifications as normal petrol driven cars..Thats why the little Riva wasn't allowed because it would fail the safety tests by killing or seriously injuring the occupants in a small crash.

But if you convert and already existing car that's fine..if you watched some of Gav's earlier videos you will see the list of requirements he had to have for his electric car in NZ, I am guessing that Australia will be similar if not worst then that list...but really its not that bad.

I like seeing this kinda conversion, but I find the noise from the controller in this one to be quite offensive. If they're gonna make controllers that make noise, it shouldn't be a horrible high pitched whine. I mean how about making it pleasant like the Montreal metro's MR-73 cars, that make a distinctive 180, 240 & 360Hz tone when they start. You can listen to it here, each time the train starts from a station:

(Play it loud, the sound is subtle)

Or here, @ 27 seconds in, tho it's played by a trumpet instead of a current chopper.

Otherwise that's a pretty neat car he's got there.

Edit: His car is now 100% legal with stickers & all. 8) Waytago!!
