Top speed so far is 25mph. No matter how many volts I throw at all her the motor will not spin faster then 5k rpms. Thinking the motor might have a governor..

It's probably the controller, not the mpotor that has a limit.

One way to speed things up is to install either a larger motor sprocket or a smaller axle sprocket.

Deff a possibility I didn't think about. The controller is a 24-48vdc controller and for 5k rpms the motor only needs 34volts. I played with the settings some more on the kelly (max torque and more sensitive throttle ) and once it stops raining I will test her out again.

Larger sprockets on the way! 12T(30mph) 15T(38mph) and 18T(45mph)

And a 25T for my 3.6hp motor I am going to mount up next.

Nice summer day and dry roads today! Put on the 15T sprocket and she screamed all the way to 38mph on the dot! Maybe some loss of torque but not enough to notice. The motor did get much warmer though. Maybe 70ish degrees on the outside after multiple high speed runs.

Still holding up great. I built the battery pack much beefier then I needed. The batteries do not even get warm. I also balance charge at .5C after each use. It only gets ridden about once a month now.

Going to sell it and and build an electric beach kart next.
