Hi Guys,

Like to know if someone is using that kind of camera with an ebike, price seems really good at 720P and 60 FPS, light, portable. I already have Oregon Scientific ATC3k and i really hate it, the video output is really poor and the image is some kind of blurry.

Then i like to know your experiences with them please, thank you!

My experience is that you want to get a go pro.

I have a decent little cam I got cheap from hk. takes a half decent movie. But you never really know what it's doing. The complicated button push menus and flashy light codes I could never quite fully figure out. Too many options for a cheap cam, it really needed to just have two modes, on, and off.

The go pro is bad enough the same way, but at least has a screen with icons that give you a chance of figuring out what is going on. Costs a LOT more, but if you want good movie, you want the go pro.

For lame vid, the keychain cams can be ok, but all the good vid on youtube comes from gopros or something even better.

This is what a 35$ hd keychain #16 does with a fish eye on a helmet, just for reference. The fish eye was not placed right, causing the strange edge.

It does the job and it has virtually no weight compared to a gopro.
just for reference.

Hi Guys,

Thx for the quick reply, well the go pro is may be the way to go but really expensive to me for now. In fact i have that camera in mind when i open this post :

Hum this one drops a LOT of frames if I recall, if you are into cheap hd cams, techmoan is the guy : http://www.techmoan.com/ He tested 10's of cheap cams and found some gems. I ordered one of those http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2011/9/18/the-crocolis-hd-extreme-cam-longest-review-ever.html
for 150€ delivered it seems like a deal, I'll update here.

I've used a handful of them. they're great on RC planes, but they all have quirks and none do very good video. Lots of dropped frames, artifacts, bad focus, bad color, bad resolution, ect.

But they do record images, and sometimes thats all you need.
Grab one. Film stuff. Share. low quality is better than no film at all.

That's certainly true. Kinda like a girlfreind, nothing at all is a bummer.

Cheap digital still cameras take decent vid these days, and might be very cheap secondhand. Here's some from one I filmed some racing with, till I crushed it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnMBlcxVCeE&feature=plcp

The rear cam was the cheap cam I could never tell if I was filming or not with. Got it to work for the crash. 8) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_59vJNBzLFg&feature=plcp

That would be the new 1080P Jumbo. For a review see page 3 on http://www.techmoan.com
To date the best key chain HD camera is the 808 #16 which I just started working with. There is a user group dedicated to this camera at http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1556994 Things that I like so far- user can set/change configurations, lens gives normal image- not a fisheye, user can update firmware, price. Dislike-performance using internal battery, sun glare late afternoon when going into sun,but I am making improvements with a sun visor. HD video 1280x720 30fps is great using external battery.

I tried one of those cameras. The image quality is surprisingly good, but the camera isn't very reliable. I kept losing the files due to corruption, so I had to keep re-formatting the micro SD card. You're mutch better off paying for a decent camera.

I use this one now, which works very well with 1080P. You can see a car registration plate at a good distance. It's very reliable and you can see when it's recording.

I have 4 of these key chain cameras and a GoPro Hero 2. The key chain cameras are great fun, can take pics and vids, and are great value for money. You will get pics and vids, you will be able to edit them and put them on Youtube to show them to the world. Apart from turning recording on and of there is nothing else you can adjust. So, don't complain about quality.

The GoPro is about getting good and exciting vids when in action. It is NOT about pro quality videos. So, don't be disappointed when getting a GoPro, and the vids do not turn out like the pro vids on Vimeo.

For a professional video, you need a separate cameraman and a nice large sensor camera with good glass in the 10k+ range.
