can a mosfet slowly fail or does it work or notwork?

Hi All,
I have an Ultramotors A2B from 2010. (Bought it 3 mo old in early march 2011)
Blew the stock controller in 2011 @ 5,000 mile.
Replaced Lyen 12 FET ‘sensored’ controller
Added external 36 volt lifepo battery.
Rebuilt pack with tesla cells 2015 @ 7500 miles
Running 36 volts 2016~2021…no problems @ 10,000 miles
Then…
Coasting down a hill, throttle closed, tried to accelerate and the bike stammered and quit, tried several more times and it might move a few feet and then quit.
Parked it for three months due to life getting in the way, but with battery topped off every several weeks.
Last week I finally had time to get to it, cleaned all plugs/sockets with deoxit and it the bike worked.
No too certain I really found an issue I test drove for ½ mile and all was good.
Today, still apprehensive drove ¼ mile and coasted down a hill, gave it some throttle and nothing.
I assume it is either the throttle switch, the controller or the hall sensors.
Could a failing hallsensor be the culprit or do they simply die.
Since the hall sensor replacement on this motor would be the most labor intensive I’m, hoping it is other.
Please advise.
Thank you
wj
