Is there any reason why everyone tries to mount their ESC and batteries onto the bottom on the board?
The main issue I see with putting all of that on the bottom of the board is that the bottom is where you'll see the most damage from rocks and sidewalks. If you end up carving, you have to make sure your equipment is in the middle of your board width-wise and if you end up being relatively heavy (or expect bumpy roads that might cause your board to flex) you'll want it close to the trucks.
I was thinking of putting the battery and ESC on the top rear end of my board right on top of the motor mounted trucks / back end of the board where I never step and then enclosing that in something waterproof and sturdy.
Has anyone tried a similar design?
