If I have some luck, I will receive the kit around 1 or 2 june.

I will completly install it and i plan to do many tests with it.

I just heard about one person here that have that 5305 and I think I will take the chance to try to show you what it really can do in many conditions and setups.

-Testing max speed running on flat at voltage from 36 to 72V---maybe 84 and 96V if i have time to mod my controller.

-testing accelerations onn flat and some hill

-testing offroad!! for sure! that Brute like they call it should show his BEST performances in that conditions 8)

84v nominal should be fine, as I ran my stock 72v controller with 70 NiMH cells from day one. It only blew a couple of MOSFETs after I turned the current limit up.

Have your video cam and mount ready to rock! A 5305 @ 96v will be a tire smoking wheelie machine

Lowell, you doesn't have to border about my tire 8) I already bought 3 set !!

I would like to compare with tidalforce hub motor

Doc... hum... maybe i will change my nickname to "N.m blaster".. lol

Is that 157db reading your car??!

Yes, you are right, my best score is 157.1dB at 51Hz on calibrated audiocontrol SPL meter. I'm winner of 2005-2006 Audiodrag Spl contest in SPL-1 class in Quebec and 2th in Canada . I use (two 10" woofer and one JBL 1200.1 amplifier boosted to 18V ).. i changed the caps of the power supply in and out and get 1800W rms. my 2 10" can play much louder than many common 12" and 15" woofer..

BUT... i'm not mad scientist anymore.. or that kind of crazy guy that play windows down his car sound system at 3aM in residential road... I use it with respect and play it up to 140dB range only in SPL contest even... I love to listen music and dont want to become deaf by this way... :?

I like to play with woofer and amplifier too 8)

Doc

Oh how cool! What can you do with one 10" subwoofer, an ipod, a 100W x 7 channel home stereo receiver, a couple wood battery boxes, and 80 volts of electricity?

Now I just need to find room for the woofer...
and those bouncing shock absorbers...
to become

Ghetto Biker!

Hmm... I think it wouldn't be too hard to turn a Crystalyte controller into a 5kw class D amplifier.

How about hydraulics on your bike, Xyster. I have a small but powerful 24v hydraulic pump sitting under my workbench. You could hop up and down in sync with the music. :D

One of these days... one of you guys are going to ride too close to an MRI building and get sucked smack into the wall like a refrigerator magnet.

lol.. about MRI, my jobmate had 4 of these MA10000 from Crown..

They can output 10kW at 0.5 ohm.. damping factor of 1000 and they was used in bridge mode to supply the MRI of an hospital.. lol

40kW just for him and his house.. the only problem is that he still have no 208V 3 phases wall socket....

Each one have 82 to-3 "old school" transistor inside!!

Now maybe a mooded crystalyte controller to like 100V would be able to supply one of them!... it would just need to synchronyse the throttle to give 60Hz at output....

now let's return to the main program: talking about the test i will do on this famous 5305  sound and amplifier would be better discussed on diyaudio.com or dbdrag.com

:D !!

Today, my friend Marc from computer repair shop gave me 20 x 12V5ah battery from UPS!!! + 5 scratched li-ion macbook battery!

well.. now i have:

A123 pack of Dewalt 36V = 1
12V 5ah sla =20
li-ion 10.8V =5

Each SLA give 13V no charge.. will test with load soon to keep only the bests

Waiting to get more A123 I will begin using the SLA to 36V, 48V.. then 72V to 5aH and 10ah

I wonder what can i get using a higher winding such as the 5305 with 72V5ah

I would test it also to 36V 12ah (half volt, double amp, same power) to see the max speed and acceleration variation

ALSO the DrainBrain-V2 beta is ordered!!! will receive it in one week

waiting to receive the package....

results soon!

I just did some test today at 33V of two Dewalt pack 2p.

The environment was:

-plane ground on neibourhood streets
-no wind
-sunny
-60 pounds ebike
-pedal very rarely
-Cycleanalyst v2 +wattsup meter +GPS was used to compare

-I got 12.0km on my GPS and drainbrain(I recalibrated it)
-The 2 dewat packs gave 126Wh used down to 25V cutoff limit
-Peak power measured was 1186W and 48A
-around 11.3Wh/km
-avg speed was 24.3kph

The pack took 160Wh of energy to charge (measured on the AC 120V line). That's a charge efficiency of 79% !... it took 1h25 to fully recharge the 2 packs.

Here are some pictures of the measured:

very nice!!!! i'm impressed. I have to say i got similar distance with 36v /17ah sla's! so to do the same in 4 - 4.6ah is very impressive. was it mostly flat ground though? I'm beginning to think i underestimated how hilly my area is :p

Yes, it wan only on flat ground. I will install permanently the rest of my pack soon. I think you reconized the duck tape i used to hold this test stuff

I like to test and compare using different way like that!

I previously used 6 pack 12V 5Ah to get around 119Wh max but this was heavy!! 30pound with the case... and my bike was not pretty balanced...

Now i can feel the real difference by putting battery in the middle of the bike triangle!.. more stable, less dangerous, better grip of tire...etc

Doc

my 5305 is on its way, I was considering getting it in a 20 inch wheel but decided that would probably be overkill. Thanks for the info, I now have a general idea of what to expect as far as performance. I'm either going up a steep hill or going down a steep hill around here.

Have you received it?
