Most of you guys seem to miss a quite important point: all the quantities you mention are actually "theoretical exploitable resources considering today's extraction technologies and cost of said extraction".

Exactly. Most of the dire predictions are made using an assumption of the sort , "given the way things are going." But the reality is things seldom keep going the same way. People adapt.

A good part of that adaption is triggered by market forces ... which are often maligned without due consideration for all the benefit that they bring.
