I knew this was a problem but thought it was exaggerated. I made 4 panels to prevent my bags from getting into the spokes and had a bit left over so I made a spoke protector. I fixed this in place with copper wire. This bent it into a shallow cone. I knew Lexan could take a cold bend without any problems. My gears locked up so I hit them with brake parts cleaner and I heard the spoke protector brake. The gear problem turned out to be fishing line. Since I had it off I also sprayed it down with deet which is the cloudy substance on the top left. Deet had no effect on the lexan but does damage other plastics.https://flic.kr/p/2pxfC9u

Yep, try to avoid strong chemicals on plastics. Tried putting brush cleaner (mostly kerosene and acetone) in a styrofoam cup once; melted it within two minutes. Most chemical-resistant plastics are somewhat flexible like HDPE is, which makes their use cases limited.
