Turnigy 80-100 RC drive VS Bafang BPM Hub

Just out of interest I compared the G times to one of our cars today. I was just dropping my daughter at school so there was no crazy driving realy just a brisk acceleration 0 - 80kmh. Gutless family sedan that dose 0-100kmh in about 9 seconds.

Family car

0-10 kph 0.96 sec
0-20 kph 1.68 sec
0-30 kph 2.53 sec
0-40 kph 3.49 sec

60 foot 3.20

max G 0.47 G

Interestingly I didn't change the weight spec ented into the program so it still had 97kg in there and thinking it was the trike doing the acceleration test. I have it set for 0% drive train loss. So the KW produced is what you would need at the wheel/ground. It said I would need 5kw at the ground in my trike to be the same acceleration as a gutless family car

I would agree with that 1000kg car with 100kw = 100kg bike 10kw and considering the cars more like 1200kg and wasn't being pushed to max KW.So it was most likely only pushing 60kw at the road. So I would say you would need a genuine 5kw at the ground to have a bike that's as fast as a average slow family sedan .

It would be great to see other peoples Data if they have a Iphone or android phone. There are plenty of apps out there some even free. AJ how did you get on with your android app?

Matt I would love to see this program run on your yellow trike for comparison.

I wish I had this app when I had my old civic. Most of my time slips the ink has faded away but I am sure that did under 2 seconds for 60 foot times.

@neptonix...at this point in time you won't get
A setup lighter with the power potential of the rc
Motored setups. I have run the STOCK Turnigy
well over the recommended 6Kw, data logging
Showed the ESC pushing 10Kw peaks alot of fun
Granted but its short lived, either motor or esc
(castle creations hv160) will fail prematurely.

For fun factor and reliability, (on a 44v setup) i have found limitin The hv160 via a RC-Cycle Analyst to 160amp gives best results.

Yes I will have to get a 18 or 24 fet controller so I can pump 100-120amps into it at 15s.not sure if its worth forking out the extra cash for the 24 fett . My little stock 12 fett is doing fine at 45A CA showing peaks of 50A though I never really trust the CA peak readings as they could be for just a fraction of a second.I am going to have to give this Bafang motor back to my wife soon.As she has started asking when am I going to finish playing with it on my bike.Should be a good motor for her on her folding bike total bike and rider weight will be lucky to be 70kg so she will probabily pop wheelies at 2500w  Got her a nice fat big apple tyre for the rear and skinny little slick on the front .
EDIT: I just weighed her bike with the bafang on there to with 10ah 60v lipo its 18.2kg :D and she is 48kg so total will be 66.2kg.

it is always nice to compare everyone's set-ups with some real data. Max speed tends to get talked about a lot on the forum. To be honest max speed doesn't really matter me to. Never did with cars ether. its acceleration that is fun and you can enjoy it day to day without gettign into to much trouble. Even if my bike maxed out at 40kmh but tore the wheel off getting there I would be happy !

Bust out the android phone and G meter AJ I need a target to beat

After the insentient yesterday with my run away bike stuck at full throttle cruise control. I was absolutely pissing my self laughing today when my daughter said." Dady your on tv " So I rewinded it and recorded it on my phone thought some might get a good laugh out of it.

It actually reminded me of a insentient I had with my first electric bike years ago aswell . I was testing a brushed motor out at 60v SLA and my controller couldn't handle that voltage so a thought what the hell I will just wire a big toggle switch to the handle bars. I got 1/2 way down the driveway and hit the switch. the arc on the switch fused it on solid and I had a run away bike ! I was able to go down the road and fight the motor with the brakes to slow it enough to jump off.

I feel exactly the same buddy, top speed has never interested me in any form of vehicle... acceleration is where itz at...Long as my bike can do 60-65km/hr (which it achieves rather abruptly at the twist of the throttle LoL) I'm a happy camper...Speed limits in the 'burbs' is 50km/hr so i am in 'gettin' a ticket' territory already LoL

No rush there AJ.

I wont be able to do much bike testing for a few day to. That crash at 60kmh did more to my ankle than I first thought. Looks like when I was thrown from the trike my right foot didn't disconnect from the clip in peddles. That's why the front chain ring stabbed into my ankle when the bike tipped over. I think because my foot was still connected to the bike It sprained the ankle slightly. Its a bit stiff and tender today.

Ouch Kurt, that ankle looks awefully painfull mate. Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.

Loved the video, Jolly's Lookout is a beaut spot eh. Mt Nebo Rd was my favourite haunt years ago in a 380hp R32 Skyline, good fun

Just watchout for the cops a little further down the road from where the video stopped, the sneeky buggers hide behind a large gum tree on a bend busting people heading back to The Gap (where you turn off to go down the hill to that bbq area). Found that out the expen$ive way lol.
