Here is our Eco-marathon trike that we just built. I didn't get a chance to work on it at all really since I was still catching up on homework from missing a week of school for the Clean Snowmobile Challenge.

It uses a 48V 10Ah 20C Tunigy LiPo setup, (12S 2P)
15Kw Hacker RC motor http://www.aero-model.com/Hacker-Brushless-A200-8.aspx :D
And a KMX Tornado F3 trike.

Thought you guys might be interested, we are currently placed 5th out of 12
With an efficiency of 47 mi/kWh

Is that with pedaling? What was the average speed?

Pedaling isn't allowed by the competition, so the pedals were just used as footrests.

The average speed was somewhere ~15 Mph. I don't know exactly I'll have to ask the team about it when they get back from Houston.

 15kW motor seems like an odd choice for an Eco ( efficiency) event ??
I cannot imagine needing more than 1kW to average 15mph 1 :?

We don't get to make expensive part purchases very often, so getting a motor that can be used in a wide variety of applications is much more beneficial to us. The small loss in efficiency from using an overpowered motor is outweighed by the potential for other applications.

Plus once the trike is back from the competition we can take off all the limiters and see how fast it will go.
