I have a 9C with one bad Hall cell. I removed it and replaced it with a S41 037 cell. When I test the cells with a small magnet I find that the two original cells toggle at about 1\8" distance from the magnet, and when the magnet is removed they reset. The replacement part picks up at about .5 inches and stays latched up until power is removed or I assume the magnetic polarity changes state. I cannot flip the polarity to be sure as the test magnet is in a mount. It seems possible that inside the motor the cell may produce a similar waveform to the original cells but I am reluctant to reassemble the motor without knowing if the new cell will work. Has any one run into this?

never heard of S41 037. sounds like a number the chinese would use for their knockoffs of the real honeywell part # SS41.

The SS40 series comes in several flavors according to the data PDF file. This one was purchased from Grin Cyclery as the correct replacement.
