Why pedal indeed... today's adventure.

Sounds like Sandy is just too old to digest most stuff anymore. Rice is the right approach, very easy to digest, but chicken might be easier for Sandy to digest than beef.

A while back we had one of our old St bernard dogs slowly dying of old age, couldn't eat much anymore. But he wasn't suffering yet really, still looked happy even though he was all doped up on rymadil or other pain killers just to be able to get up and pee once or twice a day.

So every single day, I made him chicken and rice soup, for almost a year. He couldn't do the canned stuff, not even the chicken. I bought leg quarters in the big cheap bag of 9 or 10, and baked them. Then each day, the meat from one leg, some rice and carrots, and hot water to make him fresh soup.

Finally one day you could see he was in distress, and it was time to take him to the rainbow bridge. That day, we come home from the vet crying, and there's his rainbow in the sky.
