Summer weather has put me in a cruising mood. This is only a rough rolling mock-up, to be taken to local ironworks for some "slight" remodeling... Okay, one more: more pics to come after welding is done.

For stopping a 30-40mph bike, four piston brakes will do a better job. DH brakes are designed for stopping bikes that go about that speed, and I always try to use them over a regular-trail rated brakes. If Shimano Saints ate too pricey, Zee brakes are cheaper, but totally worth it.

I've had luck so far, matching rim and tire combos that are not common, but seem to work great ( at least to me). For example, the first one was a Schwalbe Big Apple 2.0 on a 65mm wide Surly Large Marge rim. Doesn't seem like it will work, but the balloon tire opens up and seats itself nicely...

You're in the UK, good mud guards are made there. For the front, check out RockGuardz, they are available in different lengths, or D-Fender. For the rear, MudHugger rear fender. All made in UK, my go-to place for fenders.
