    New BMSBattery bottle style batteries

I'm considering ordering the 48v 11Ah version with integrated 20A controller. To build an ebike for my Dad. http://www.bmsbattery.com/battery-pack/701-bottle-ebike-battery.html But I'm having a hard time picking out a suitable motor, I figure around 750W would be about right. Can anyone offer...

    E-Patriot

Hi everyone, Its been a while so I thought I'd upload some more recent pictures. The bike is completed and has been for a long time and I ride it regularly, I just never got around to taking some decent photos. The battery box is no longer skinned in wood and is now carbon fibre. When I...

    E-Tractor Build Log

I've been busy with the tractor, making further mods and doing a lot of work with it. This has become a proper little workhorse - not just an EV project but a working tool. Here's a video of me mowing. http://youtu.be/vgQniLh9fEc As for the other mods - well they're more 'tractor' mods than...

    E-Tractor Build Log

@ohzee - I think 'skilled' is going a bit far :) I'll have to see about video. I'd hoped it would be quiet too but in actual fact it is surprising noisy to drive - however step back a couple of feet and the noise soon tails off. It is certainly nowhere near as loud as my neighbours' various...

    E-Tractor Build Log

Thanks for the kind words fellas :D Tyler - I know what you mean. I was rather surprised just how well the small motor copes. This thing was experimental, I'd half expected to need a 2nd motor to do any real work or to need powered attachments. I have a mains powered rotary mower rated at...

    E-Tractor Build Log

So its been a while since my last update - had to wait to buy a house with a bigger garden so I could test it properly! A couple of early trials before we moved house showed that I needed a bigger driven sprocket though as top speed was way too high so I replaced the 21T with a 30T. I finished...

    E-Tractor Build Log

My 4 year old son's favourite colour is green so it had to be the 'deere' colour scheme. Besides I like the contrast of the green and yellow too :D I was thinking of making some decals with the deere on them, just need to think of some sort of play on words to go on there - "Nothing runs like...

    E-Tractor Build Log

Here it is with the seat mounted. As I said I just need the front tyres, front wheel bearings, to fabricate a cowling over the batteries and to mount my new gauges. So far its been alot of fun. I can't wait to use it. I'll be needing to make or modify a bunch of different implements for...

    E-Tractor Build Log

Yes I've made alot of progress. Apologies I gave up on the 'build log' as there didn't seem to be much interest on here. So here's a little update: Work is sporadic since I have to travel for business so the project goes on hold for 3 week stretches which is a pain. Please note that the...

    E-Tractor Build Log

So I've been wanting to build an electric garden tractor for quite a while. I was looking at various ways of building my own chassis when I came across a rolling chassis on ebay. When I bought it I didn't have a clue what it was but I now know its a Simplicity 738 - they stopped making them in...

Need Help Tying Lyen Regen Jumper into Brake Cutouts

Yes its absolutely brilliant John. I can't stop grinning about my ebike. Just another quick Q - So now I'm finding that when I hit regen at say 30mph the braking isn't constant but rather cuts in and out. Its like it's limiting voltage or current or something. Do you have the same?

Need Help Tying Lyen Regen Jumper into Brake Cutouts

Yay! Got it sussed. Turns out it was a bad connection on the regen jumper. Now it freewheels when I release the throttle and regenerates when I push the button. It brakes nicely and makes about 10A. Thanks for the help.

Need Help Tying Lyen Regen Jumper into Brake Cutouts

Ah that's what I was looking for i.e. as I expected, regen is engaged with the ebrake. It seems to me there are 2 possibilites why this isn't working: 1) Programming settings is failing (as John suggested) 2) The regen link is not making contact I'll try to rule both out tomorrow morning.

Need Help Tying Lyen Regen Jumper into Brake Cutouts

John, I can't see that? I've set SlipChargeMode = 1:Only Fake Indicate (no throttle regen). I'm sure I'm missing something obvious

Need Help Tying Lyen Regen Jumper into Brake Cutouts

I've got a Lyen 12Fet sensorless. At first (default settings) it would regen when I released the throttle. I didn't like that so I disconnected the regen jumper and all was well. Now I've wired a button to the ebrake pins and expected it to go into regen when I press it. I also reconnected...

Quick Lyen 12 FET & CA question

Yes they're definitely tyres. 'Tires' is what happens to my legs when my battery dies. Glad to see it's LightCycle and not LiteCycle :)

CA wiring to Lyen 12Fet Sensorless 90% there ...help!

I'm running 18s 30A and get 42mph, the same as you. I also get juddering above 30A. I'm sure its just losing sync. Haven't tried too many different settings - I might try higher phase current but to be honest performance is pretty good at 30A. What I was asking was; Are you getting a speed...

Thanks, you're right. Did it this morning but my DH forks are so wide I can't get the magnet close enough to the reed

Quick Lyen 12 FET & CA question

As in the subject, I've got a Sensorless Lyen 12 Fet with CA plug and a DP CA. I just plugged in the CA for the 1st time and I'm not getting a speed reading. Is it because the sensorless controller doesn't have a speed output? Do I need to use a reed switch to sense speed?

CA wiring to Lyen 12Fet Sensorless 90% there ...help!

Hey Spacey, I just got my DP CA if you need me to look at the connector for you. I just had my first run today and was disappointed I wasn't getting speed from my sensorless Lyen 12 Fet. Are you running sensorless? Do you get speed?

    EV Power vs Speed

Done. Would love to see your new figures. You're both right. I was limited to the way I could build the survey. Being limited to only a few speed selections is not ideal but I was limited by the tools and my skills. Just allowing MPH and KPH figures was tricky :) I didn't want to make...
