Okay this may seem odd, but I want to know if there is any reason this won't work.
I have a large 50ah 68v battery that is on my emoto which rarely gets ridden. It is trickle charged by my solar panel. I do have numerous small 72v batteries that I need to charge on a daily basis (for my lawn mowing needs). I essentially want to take the energy from the big 68v battery to charge the smaller 72v ones, without using a dc-dc to 12v, then to 120vac then back to 72vdc. (I also don't have a low current 72v charger that won't trip my my 12vdc to 120vac adapter.)

So, my idea is to put a current limited (to something like 2-4amps) ~10v charger in series with my 66v battery. I will ultimately have a "too high" voltage but that is fine since I will monitor the process. This should get me my 2-4amp charging current at the necessary 82-84volts.

What do you think?

I've been doing this for the past week, no issues. Just need to watch the voltage of the battery being charged.
