Bike Friendly City?

I'm so saddened right now. All this happened right where I lived in college... like literally on the same street.

I still haven't heard from friends in the area, who lived there after high school and have attended and taught at schools in Goleta and Santa Barbara.
I used to know some of the participants in the Isla Vista riots when I was in high school. I'm getting old.

Our prayers go up for the family and friends of the young victim, Mr.Ryan Holyk.
If the crash happened at night, the victim's bicycle light probably disappeared at the scene.
Hope the investigation doesn't turn into one of these:

The LASO continues to stonewall on this one. Many believe the deputy was on the computer at the time. :x
Every cop knows why motorcycle patrol officers wear calf-high boots. In them they carry an untraceable small handgun to plant on the un-armed people that officers regularly shoot by mistake.
Just a side note: My dad died at Sacred Heart in 2000, the only thing I still remember about Y2K. :|

Due to unfortunate events, this week usually very bike-friendly Isla Vista gets the nod.
I don't believe the cyclists hit are among the fatalities. All because he was not popular with the girls.

Sociopath in being sociopath shocker. I'd be confident enough in stating that none of those people actually see women as anything more than objects. For them being unpopular is just another handy reason to kill people. If it wasn't that it would be another imagined thing. It's always someone else's fault not theirs.

amazing about the number of comments from people saying the bicyclists who were run over by this drunk "got what they deserved" since "they are always violating traffic laws too".

Yes, it makes me wonder whether they'd prescribe the death penalty for old ladies and kids who jaywalk, or other motorists who speed, use their cell phones while driving, or fail to yield.

Really it's their irrational reaction to the knowledge that they are being self-indulgent, destructive, irresponsible, unethical and stupid, while cyclists are doing it right. People hate it when they know you're right and they are wrong.

Guy shot in head while riding a bike in west englewood, chicago.

Chicago has more gangbangers then LA with around 150,000.
