I have the two wires connected coming out of the BMS.
No lights

When I plug the XLR connector into the charger for 30 seconds
No lights

When I plug the discharge wires into the bike motor.
The motor runs
Cycle Analyst shows 54 volts (and negative amps?) (calibration?)
No lights.

48v 15ah pack.
Did I get a DOA bms?
Or am I doing something incorrectly.

Halp :(

Make sure you connect the BMS wires. I believe the white ones together before you charge. Ping call it multi pin connectors. See http://www.pingbattery.com/usrguide/Wiring%20Guide%20V2.5.pdf

There are two sets of wires coming out of the BMS . Should both be connected when charging?
Should either one be disconnected? Should they both be always connected all the time unless in storage?

Oh, and the little spark snap clap whatever when I connected the battery to the controller wires, that was a nice surprise, I just about back-flipped. :D
I wouldn't say I am being impatient so much as I am being nervous and paranoid.

There is a lot of info on the forum concerning that snap when you hook up your charger. Some just live with it, some put in pre-charge resisters to deal with it, I use a DC circuit breaker as an on/off switch and let it handle the spark.

I'll look into that issue, it doesn't bother me unless it can cause damage, just wasn't expecting it.

you can put a switch in the circuit current to turn off the battery. the ping signalab has a spot made just for that. i use a little dip switch to turn the circuit current off and it cost 14 cents each.
