Has anyone ever tried these or know anything about them?

These are particularly interesting to me as 6 of them will fit in nearly exactly the space of 1 20ah 12v SLA battery, so I know I can fit 24s in my existing scooter battery box. Something seems fishy to me as I don't see how the power density could be that much more with the same chemistry as other cells/packs....

thanks!

Density works out to 55Ah per liter or 31Ah per kg. That doesn't seem so amazingly high. Looks like they would be easy to work with. If you buy some, let us know how they work for you.

Thanks, I will. Hard to take a chance for that kinda money.

I'd go with OSN Power or Cellman otherwise, but there's no way they could build a 20ah 72v pack to those dimensions...could fit a 48v pack in the box, and put a 24v pack under the seat...

They're also kinda expensive at $50+ / cell...

Hey thanks for the reference. Yea, let us know how that cell works out. Interesting that headway-headquarters.com, a US distributor for Headway, also sells CALB and TopBrand. Also as DIY kits. I'm now interested in their http://headway-headquarters.com/diy-36v-15ah-headway-battery-kit/ as a potential replacement for my A123 AMP20 pack, working just fine, but going on 2 years now.

i was just about to start a thread on this brand of cell as well as ive found a uk supplier of topbattery brand cells similar size spec and appearance of the a123 foil pouch cells which there are no uk suppliers for that i know of so was wondering if these were a viable alternative, ive uploaded the manufacturers pdf file to mediafire here if anyone wants to take a look http://www.mediafire.com/view/87t210ve2i18wg6/top_battery.pdf if anyone has any opinions, has used them or the uk supplier http://www.electricwingman.com/lifepo4-cell-20ah-TB077170226mFF1.aspx any info would be appreciated cheers osh 8)

So nothing but questions. What is the format of the TopBand LiFePO4 battery cell TB-3220FH 3.2V 20Ah with aluminium case? Are those prismatic? And the post of oldskoolhead » Thu Oct 24, 2013 9:12 pm - it does not look like the same cell. TopBand, TopBattery?? Confusing. But you're saying they are prismatic format cells?

The parent company is http://www.topband-energy.com/product/lifepo4-battery-cell.html. From what I can tell they've incorporated a BMS like protection unit at the cell level: "PCB and/or BMS built inside to balance protect the battery." It appears that they make batteries and are not a manufacturer of the cells.

yes i realised after my post they seem to be a different brand, though my queery regarding them is still open though maybe i should start a new thread, prismatic cells are basically rectangular cells as opposed to cylindrical cells so yes both cells mentioned are prismatic as it only refers to the shape
edit i guess the obvious advantage being prismatic is that more cells can fit into a given area

It sounded a bit funny that they would put a BMS in each individual cell, so I emailed the guys at headway headquarters to see what's up. Their reply:

Hello,

No, they do not have a internal BMS or PCM. You would need to purchase one for a pack.

Sinerely,

So they don't have built-in BMS's. I think the Topband guys build big packs and put bms's in those, and their site is likely just bad english.
