No Allen. I never suggested torque requires motion or acceleration. I said Torque IS motion, more specifically, it IS acceleration. Although, I suppose the "F" in the simple equation always represents motion as the force applied.
Yes Allen: Torque on a particle is generally measured as: Torque...
No Matt.
That is a gross, not a technical inaccuracy. No torque is applied by pressing on a wall. The fact that the wall does not change velocity means there is no torque. There isn't even an axis.
Perhaps turning a wrench or closing a door is a better simple analogy anyone can understand.
Under magnification there is some copper in there, but nowhere near 50%. Silver coating is understandable, but tin or aluminum over copper would lead to faster corrosion, no?
Mr. Edward Lyen hasn't answered my emails for two weeks now. So I wired my new motor to my old controller. When doing do, I realized that the 12awg motor phase wire leads from my old motor were aluminum or alum alloy rather than copper. The wires from the newer motor seem to be all aluminum and...
Torque is not a "static pressure".
Angular momentum and angular velocity are static pressures (conserved) - unless acted on by an outside force providing torque (dis-equilibrium) in an otherwise static system
Torque is the rate of change in angular momentum. By definition, either or both...
I purchased a controller from Lyen a few months ago to pair with a new motor. I asked him to provide longer leads so I would have greater flexibility in my connection location choices. I payed him like $50 for this. Everything looked great until I wanted to start wiring it up today. Here is what...
I think Mike has been taking a break from the forum, but I've spoken to him in email.
If you search this thread, you will find many photos and videos.
Maybe Mike's youtube channel will help. (the assembly videos)

Here I'm seeking advice regarding crank arms.
I've always had a bad wobble when peddling the cranks. It was so bad, it influenced chain tension. Mike was talking about using White Industry freewheels but still needs to build a jig in order to machine crank arms to fit the WI freewheel. Although...
Hi,
Can someone who has opened one of these motors please give me some advice on how to do do so. I need to attempt to change the bearings. Mike has a video on youtube demonstrating bearing removal on a GNG motor. Does anyone know if the small block is the same?
I don't even know if there are...
I don't understand John. I thought V was the constant and Amps the variable. So T start is zero amps, WOT is max set amps/bms limit, V remains constant. Could it be the controller somehow? Maybe I'm off base. I don't know.
In terms of melting bearings. I need to replace bearings in my...
Thanks Mike. I hope they end their talks soon. The motor is weakened so I'm not sure it's worth it or if it can be rebuilt. How difficult is bearing replacement?
